    Congratulations to Tesia Payne-Adams, Kettering Health Washington Township's DAISY Award winner! Tesia works in Maternity. Her nomination shared: "I came to Kettering Health Washington Township early on a snowy February morning and was fortunate to be in the care of Tesia Payne-Adams for labor and delivery. I am an almost 37-year-old first-time mom, and I was very nervous not knowing exactly what to expect. Tesia was an exceptional nurse and amazing support throughout my labor, delivery, and recovery process. She calmly walked me through what would happen and patiently answered me and my husband's questions. She was proactive to ensure I was able to get an epidural even though I had arrived with labor quite advanced. She gave me a heads up about each step and even shared some of her personal experiences from giving birth to her two children. She was the perfect coach and cheerleader throughout the delivery process. She gave authentic encouragement and emanated a steady, positive energy. This made me feel calm and confident. At one point I even joked to my husband as the contractions were getting more intense that while he was important, Tesia was the most important person in the room. Maya Angelou once said, 'People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.' Thanks to Tesia's exceptional care and kindness, I will forever remember the birth of my first child as a positive and transformative experience. We are grateful to have such a skilled and dedicated nurse serving our community." Way to go, Tesia!

    Congratulations to Nikki Rodriguez-Borasz, nurse practitioner, for receiving the Distinguished Interstim Therapy Provider award! The award recognizes providers who are proficient in diagnosing and treating patients using Interstim, an implant that sends electrical impulses to the sacral nerves to help treat overactive bladder, incontinence, and urinary retention. Medtronic awarded Nikki for her ability to care for patients effectively before, during, and after treatment for the past two years. Congratulations, Nikki!

    Congratulations to Arcina Martin, Kettering Health Main Campus's Sunflower Award winner! Arcina was nominated by a patient's family member, who shared: "Arcina was my husband's nursing assistant many times during his 11-day hospitalization. She consistently went out of her way to be as helpful as possible for him after a major abdominal surgery. She brought positivity and laughter to his room each time she was present. She is so full of life and amazing energy. Her compassion for caring for her patients and co-workers is unmatched. Arcina is full of love, and she is beyond deserving of being recognized for the care she provides." Way to go, Arcina!

    Congratulations to Kim Jennings, Kettering Health Washington Township's DAISY Award winner! Kim is a night shift supervisor. She was nominated by a patient, who shared: "Kim Jennings embodies the concept of customer service to her patients in everything she does. I certainly don't know where I would be without her kindness. I started coming down with the dreaded stomach flu. My symptoms worsened to include fully body tingling and numbness in addition to nausea and vomiting. At 4 a.m., I called the rescue squad and was transported to the Kettering Health Emergency Department in Huber Heights. In doing so, I had to leave my two dogs behind in my apartment. When I was admitted to Washington Township, my worry for my dogs' well-being only deepened. When Kim found out what was going on, she started the ball rolling with SICSA to get my dogs taken care of so I could concentrate on getting well. Through her efforts, SICSA picked up my dogs and will care for them until I can get back on my feet. I don't have the worry now that my dogs will be well cared for. This is due in no small part to Kim's efforts. I do not know what I would have done without her!" Way to care for your patients' needs, Kim!

    Major Greg Stephens, a retired captain from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and current major with the Kettering Health Police Department, received the Peter Tobin Icon of Law Enforcement Lifetime Achievement Award! This statewide award is given during Light Ohio Blue, a ten-day campaign to honor our fallen police officers and those who continue to serve. Major Stephens is the award's first recipient from the Dayton area. During his 34 years of service, Major Stephens helped start the Light Ohio Blue campaign in Montgomery County. We are honored to have this dedicated law enforcement officer on our team!

    Congratulations to Dazaray Crawford, Kettering Health Washington Township's Sunflower Award winner! Dazaray is a nurse in Med-Surg. She was nominated by a patient, who shared: "Dazaray leaped into action when I came back from surgery. My bladder was hurting, and she quickly retrieved everything I needed for a pure wick. She acted quickly and with compassion. Every time she came into my room, she made me feel cared for and special. She deserves this award very much. I also feel it is special to mention that when she left for the evening, she told me she loved me and that touched my heart greatly." Way to show your patients you care, Dazaray!
