We know that one of the most powerful ways to drive equitable health outcomes is by highlighting and centering patient voices, particularly those who have been historically underserved and far too often go unheard. Hear from Jenée Williams, our Director of Patient Advocacy Relations, who recently shared insights at the National Minority Quality Forum's Annual Leadership Summit about the importance of lifting up community perspectives in the fight against Alzheimer's. Our mission to discover breakthrough medicines for devastating diseases is driven by our cutting-edge scientific research. And we’re bringing this same rigor to tackle the big questions in healthcare to #BIO2024 next week as we meet with fellow innovators to reshape treatment paradigms and address unmet needs for patients. We look forward to more engaging conversations like those shared by our leaders James Sabry and Teresa Graham from Roche. http://spr.ly/6047egXpW

Biomarker testing is critical to getting a complete lung cancer diagnosis and determining if a patient can benefit from a personalized treatment – but many patients still don’t get tested. Learn why everyone diagnosed with lung cancer needs to have access to biomarker testing, and see how we’re working to make this a reality: https://lnkd.in/gK_9r5Wr #ASCO24

Our scientists are increasingly integrating research on drug delivery into the development of new medicines to ensure their safe and effective delivery to their intended target. Tune in to our podcast, Two Scientists Walk Into a Bar, where our own Karthik Nagapudi explains how drug delivery has evolved, and how we’re zeroing in on a future where highly specific drugs can reach patients exactly when and where they need treatment. http://spr.ly/6048ebTLE

We announced that the FDA granted Priority Review to our investigational treatment regimen for people with PIK3CA-mutated HR+/HER2- locally advanced or metastatic #breastcancer. PIK3CA is one of the most commonly mutated genes for patients with metastatic breast cancer and can be detected through early comprehensive biomarker testing to help inform a personalized treatment approach from the outset. The acceptance is based on positive Phase III study results with additional analyses to be presented at #ASCO24. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/geaCWjq2

Stories like Sergio’s are why we’re continuing our support for students at San Francisco State University. The Genentech Foundation’s $14M grant renewal will help provide hundreds more students with resources to help them complete their undergraduate education, transition into graduate school and pursue careers in STEM.
“I was able to tap into my inner confidence that everyone else saw in me, but I wasn't really tapping into because of my situation,” Sergio Gonzalez Jr. said of the impact of the Genentech Foundation Scholars program. Like many students, he was supporting himself. This program gave him the time and space to focus on research and achieve a 4.0 GPA. In the fall, he’ll start working on his Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University.

In recognition of #FoodAllergyAwarenessWeek, we hosted various events on campus to raise awareness about the severity of living with food allergies. First, we welcomed leaders from Food Allergy and Research Education (FARE) where they discussed all aspects of patient advocacy and how they work to meet the needs of patients, caregivers, and clinicians. Second, we hosted a conversation with food allergy patient, Riya, and her mom, Dr. Ruchi Gupta, who is a preeminent food allergy researcher. They shared their experience living with food allergies and Riya’s inspiring role in educating and empowering other kids with health conditions. We are appreciative to all of our guests who shared their personal experiences. Events like these reinforce the importance of supporting and raising awareness for the food allergy community.

Through our efforts to foster belonging and build community across our organization, we hope to create authentic spaces that elevate the voices and experiences of those who often go unheard. For #AANHPIHeritageMonth, we’re shining a spotlight on Lisa S. Wong, BSN, Principal Administrative Business Partner at our company, whose poem to her grandmother reminds us that there is unity in our differences, and whose reflections highlight the importance of active allyship. Check out her story and her poetry here:
