🌈 This June, we at Sibelco are proud to be celebrating PRIDE for the 3rd consecutive year! 🌈 Colleagues from many Sibelco countries have volunteered to coordinate Pride Month celebrations in their local workplaces. We have created and distributed a variety of materials to support these efforts, including a Sibelco Pride Bingo, a Pride Spotify playlist, a LinkedIn learning challenge, a reading recommendation list, and a film and TV series list. Pride-branded articles like pens and lanyards are available in our online shop, and the Pride flag will fly above many Sibelco sites. 🎥 Ian Sedgman, our Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer, recorded a video to express his support and commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion. Happy Pride Month! #WeAreSibelco #PrideMonth #LGBTQ #DiversityAndInclusion #Belonging #CelebratePride #EqualityForAll

Happy International Day for Biodiversity! This year's theme, "Be Part of the Plan," calls us all to join forces in halting and reversing biodiversity loss. At Sibelco, we’re committed to being active participants in this mission through various conservation and research initiatives. 🐾 In Brazil, we’ve dedicated 40% of our Jaguaruna quarry to conservation, creating a sanctuary where incredible wildlife like the elusive Margay thrive. 🐝 In Belgium, our pollinator research under the Green Deal is exploring how quarries can promote attractive spots for wild pollinators. 🌿 Our global research efforts are uncovering how quarries can become biodiversity hotspots. From the Roselière program in France to sand lizard studies in Baskarp, we’re learning how to restore and enhance these unique environments. 🌱 This year, we’re rolling out a biodiversity management plan across all our locations, aiming for full implementation by 2030. This underscores our dedication to making biodiversity a cornerstone of our operations. #ThrowBackThursday to a historic moment in Sibelco's journey! Back in 1983, our Lommel plant opened its doors, marking the beginning of a local production site 🏭. Fast forward 41 years, and we recently had the joy of inviting 100 of our current and former colleagues to celebrate this milestone with a delightful brunch. It was a great opportunity to reflect on our past achievements, share stories of our journey, and discuss the exciting challenges that lie ahead. Dive deeper into Lommel site by checking out this video! 🎥 . . . #WeAreSibelco #MilestoneCelebration

In early 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting 150 local students (ages 11-13) for the Scientix EU STEM Discover Campaign! 💡 🔍They delved into the importance of minerals for life and learned about Sibelco's exploration of these resources. We also discussed water's vital role for living things and built homemade water filters with different grain sizes. 💧 We hope these visits have sparked curiosity and inspired the next generation of young minds in the natural sciences! #STEM #SibelcoRioMaior

Sibelco partnered with RheEnergise on a groundbreaking hydro-energy storage project at our Cornwood site near Plymouth! With support from the UK Government and Devon County Council, this innovative venture will help us manage energy sustainably and reduce carbon emissions. As Ben Uphill MBA, our Director of Operations, rightly puts it, “Sibelco is looking at new ways to manage and secure its future energy needs and at the same time decarbonise its operations, and so we are excited about the potential contribution that RheEnergise’s hydro storage project can make to our operations. We are keen to adopt green technologies as part of an overall effort to reduce our carbon footprint, so we are delighted to be working with the RheEnergise team on this world-first.
