Special thanks to REI their donation of paddler hats for our educators. These hats will provide some much needed shade and protection from the sun during our programs and camps. Thank you! Grateful for this volunteer leadership for the environment by #TeamMuller!
📸 Check out a few action shots of #TeamMuller in full cleanup mode! Last Saturday, we banded together for the 2024 Potomac Watershed Cleanup along Accotink Creek. Guided by Friends of Accotink Creek and Alice Ferguson Foundation, our volunteers worked tirelessly to rid the waterway of trash, preventing it from reaching the Potomac River downstream. 🙌 Proud to be part of this incredible team! #Muller #volunteering #rivercleanup #chesapeakebay #potomacriver #environment

Special thanks to Shannon and Jessie from NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration's Monitor National Marine Sanctuary and Mallows Bay - Potomac River National Marine Sanctuary for sharing their ROV expertise with our educators earlier this week. Shannon and Jessie presented the why and science behind Remote Operated Vehicles. ROVs allow us to see beneath the water without having to dive in to oceans, lakes, or rivers ourselves to observe and collect data about sediments, critters, and so much more. We look forward to integrating STEM-focused activities related to ROVs into future camps and programs. At the end of the training, educators teamed up and put their skills to the test to build a ROV to then navigate and collect various items in the pool. Thanks again for a great training, Shannon and Jessie! #remoteoperatedvehicles #rovs #training #environmentaleducation #STEMeducation #outdoorlearning #science #data #nature

Theresa Cullen, Alice Ferguson Foundation Executive Director, recently returned from Chick-fil-A Corporate Support Center's 2024 True Inspiration Award Celebration of Impact & Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The Foundation was named the top recipient for the Care for the Planet pillar, receiving a $200,000 grant earlier this year. On Monday evening, the Alice Ferguson Foundation was recognized along with other award winning non-profits during the Celebration of Impact dinner at the Waverly Renaissance Hotel. Tuesday was a True Inspiration Day of workshops and speakers for non-profit leaders. To conclude the conference, attendees took a visit to Chick-fil-A headquarters in Atlanta. "The Chick-fil A-True Inspiration Award Ceremony and Conference did just what it was meant to do - inspire!", shared Theresa. "I returned home motivated to lead our Foundation to new heights, fueled by the recognition of our work and the support of our wonderful community. Thank you Chick-fil-A for providing this opportunity for me and believing in the mission of Alice Ferguson Foundation." #trueinspiration #awardwinnder #chickfila #grantrecipient #carefortheplanet #envrionmentaleducation #environmentalstewardship #outdoorlearning #findjoy #findingjoyinnature #nature

We are excited to share that, thanks to the support of our donors in 2023, and to the generosity of the Chick-fil-A Corporate Support Center True Inspiration Award, we were able to purchase a special trail chair this spring to help us make nature more accessible to everyone who visits us. Thank you! Image: A trail chair sitting along a wooded trail. #thankyou #grateful #accessibility #inclusivity #nature #environmentaleducation #outdoorlearning
