The City of Newport Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications for a Front Desk/Receptionist at the Community Center.

This position works Monday thru Friday with occasional weekend and nights. This person performs a variety of skilled and unskilled task; Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint experience a must. This position will have to interact with public, operate cash register, have good communication skill verbally and in writing, schedule events, work well with minors, maintain records, and the ability to obtain knowledge of regulations and enforce rules and regulations.

CITY OF NEWPORT FIRE CIVIL SERVICE BOARD 
IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A POLICE OFFICER
 
Applicants must be: 21 years of age, provide copies of high school diploma or equivalent, a valid TN Driver’s License, a copy of discharge if military veteran.  If P.O.S.T. Certified provide copy of certification and provide a copy of birth certificate. Incomplete application packets will be disqualified from consideration. POST certification is a plus. PUBLIC NOTICE
The City of Newport is now accepting bids on the following: Two 2024 Honda TRX420FM1R 4wheelers. All interested parties are encouraged to pick up bid forms at Newport City Hall during normal business hours or by Clicking Here. Bids will be accepted until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024. City Planner/Community Development Director


The full-time planner will perform administrative and technical planning work using independent judgement and discretion. Duties include: administering municipal zoning, design guidelines, research, and analysis in processing land development applications from submittal to site occupancy; code enforcement; assisting city officials and committees; long-range planning; and coordinating with other local, county and state agencies. Considerable knowledge of planning theory, principles, and practices, such as zoning, land use, comprehensive planning, economic and community development, architectural design principles, and site planning necessary. Knowledge of grant writing and grant administration preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred in urban or regional planning or related field. Previous experience in public management and planning preferred. Successful applicants required to pass background check, physical and drug screen.

Applicants must be: 18 years of age, provide copies of high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid TN Driver’s License. Incomplete application packets will be disqualified from consideration. Applications, job descriptions and other requirements may be picked up at the Newport City Hall, 300 East Main Street, Newport, TN 37821 or by CLICKING HERE. The deadline to turn in applications is Friday, May 17, 2024 at 4 pm the Newport City Hall. Fire Fighter testing will be administered on May 21, 2024 at 6 pm at the Cocke Co. Professional Development Center, 601 W Broadway St., Newport, TN 37821.
