    Did you know that dog pee can seriously damage your outside air conditioner condenser? The odd pee shouldn't do any harm, but as any dog owner knows, once a dog pees on something, all the dogs will want to pee on it, so if you have multiple dogs or your condenser is in an area near a sidewalk, you should protect it.

    Gasfitter since May 1991, 313a 2003, retired as of June 1, 2024. As a divorced mum of a 2yr old, surviving on mother’s allowance, I returned to school for upgrading, and then training in the hvac field. It was not without challenges balancing child care, classes, transportation, etc! I started part time at Union Gas 1991, full time 1992. Deregulation happened, and I was transferred to Union Energy, and then to Reliance Home Comfort (2005) There have been so very many changes in technology over the years.. conversion burners, mid/high efficiency equipment, and now onto mini ductless and hybrid heat pumps.. hvac is a career that keeps your mind stimulated. Soft skills such as compassion, listening, interpersonal relationships, patience, etc are valuable when interacting with customers and coworkers alike. There have been hiccups along the way, but to acknowledge and move forward is key. Never stop learning. Life is full of gifts! Because of my work, as a single parent I was able to purchase a home, vehicles, take family vacations, participate in mission trips (Czech Republic 2012, Bolivia 2017), sponsor via Compassion 2 children(and learn first hand how great an effect this is in their lives). Donate to and volunteer in United Way kickoff. I love volunteering in the nursery at church and a local soup kitchens(bonus. My granddaughters also want to volunteer with me! I love their servants, heartS!!) I was honoured to participate on Collision Review Committee, Health and Safety Committee (and as worker co-chair for several years), Lift, Build -a-Dream. Through the years I have been mentored by those who went before me, who freely shared their knowledge. In turn, I am grateful for a great group of co-workers, we do the same with each other. I love the new ‘guys’! They bring new ideas, techniques, and viewpoints to the table. Everyone is unique, they bring their own experiences, thinking, and training.. it is so good getting to know each other and to brainstorm together, this is how we become better!!
