The first of four new zero and low-emissions heavy duty trucks has arrived at the Port #PrinceRupert as part of a pilot project with Innovate BC.
This collaboration through the Integrated Marketplace initiative has also received funding from Transport Canada and directly supports our Port`s carbon and GHG reduction strategy.
Thanks to Hon. Rob Fleming, BC`s Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure for joining us today at Fairview Container Terminal to celebrate this milestone.

The Prince Rupert Gateway Data Visualization Initiative is one of 19 projects receiving support from the National Trade Corridors Fund to advance supply chain digitalization across Canada.
This real-time, historical, and predictive visibility tool allows users to monitor, measure and manage port operations. Our goal is to maximize efficiency and reliability, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and help inform future infrastructure needs and investments at the Port of #PrinceRupert.

#TBT @metlakatlanation has announced the Metlakatla Wilderness Trail will officially open for summer on June 4. Just over a year ago, the community celebrated the re-opening of the trail, which had been closed since a destructive windstorm in 2017.
Extensive engineering went into repairing the pathway and ensuring the safety of the suspension bridges.@rupertport is proud to have played a role in rebuilding the trail with a contribution from the Community Investment Fund.
Congratulations to Vopak and AltaGas on their positive final investment decision on the Ridley Energy Export Facility (REEF)! This is an incredible milestone for the Port of Prince Rupert as it marks the largest investment in our history, with a capital cost of $1.35 billion.
REEF will provide unprecedented market access for Canada’s energy sector by facilitating the export of liquefied petroleum gases, methanol, and other bulk liquids. Locally, the project will bring significant employment and economic benefits and strengthen the local tax base for Prince Rupert and Port Edward.

Back in 2019, @rupertport partnered up with Port Edward via the Community Investment Fund and modernized the equipment, making the playground more safe and accessible.
The Canada Infrastructure Bank is making an historic investment in the Port of Prince Rupert, with a $150 million loan for the first phase of CANXPORT, formerly the Ridley Island Export Logistics Project.
The new rail-to-container transloading hub will improve the balance of import and export cargoes that will benefit the Port’s broader intermodal business, driving local economic and employment benefits both directly and indirectly within the community.

This week, @rupertport welcomed 15 high school students from across northern B.C.to participate in Adventures in the Port of Prince Rupert, a @rotaryprincerupert and @cfprincerupert initiative supported by PRPA.
Each day, students gathered at the Port Interpretive Centre then headed out to tour local port related industries including SAAM Towage Inc., Quick Load Logistics, Trigon, B.C. Ferries, and the Coast Guard, learning about the abundance of career, trade, apprenticeship, and education opportunities available in Prince Rupert. The facilities were viewed by land and ocean.
A special thanks to our partners AltaGas, DP World, Pembina, and Ray-Mont Logistics for hosting the students and sharing the opportunities available to them after graduation.

#TBT the local Community Hall is a centrepiece of Oona River.
The community, located on Porcher Island approximately 42km south of #PrinceRupert, upgraded the facility back in 2017 with support from the @rupertport Community Investment Fund. The improvements made the Community Hall fully accessible with a ramp and an entranceway platform.
Wolverine Terminals’ Prince Rupert Marine Fuels Terminal is anticipating the delivery of its two new barges on the morning of Thursday May 16th.
The rail and distribution barges will enable marine fueling service for large vessels, filling an important service gap at the Port of #PrinceRupert.
Work continues at the terminal to prepare for bunkering operations, which will commence in the coming months.

#TBT @rupertport is excited to once again co-host the 8th annual Adventures in the Port of Prince Rupert, alongside the @rotaryprincerupert and @cfprincerupert.
Secondary students representing nearly the entire Highway 16 gateway (from Prince Rupert to Vanderhoof, and also including Williams Lake) will be in town May 14 to 16 touring many of the port related properties and industries, as well as learning more about the PRPA and the opportunities that are available after graduation.
Last year, nine students participated. This year, that number has doubled to 21 (including chaperones)! A huge welcome to all participants!

#TBT Time to go outside! Pineridge Elementary School was one of the first schools in town to benefit from the @rupertport Community Investment Fund back in 2019, with new playground equipment which in turn made it more accessible.
This includes interactive play space featuring tactile and sensory equipment for those with mobility issues.
The partnership was with the school`s Parent Advisory Council.
