It’s #WorldEnvironmentDay 🌱➡️ We’re entering our fourth #GrowingSeason at our commercial research farm in #Florenceville, #NewBrunswick, where we test and trial #SustainableFarming practices. We’re excited to share the #RegenerativeAgriculture learnings we’ve unearthed, as well the progress we’ve made, in our Farm of the Future Canada Year Three Report. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gaZcY_AD ✨ Year three highlights at the Farm of the Future Canada include: 🌱 Improvement in soil health, while reducing erosion through the adoption of #CoverCrops. 🚜 Minimized soil compaction, enhanced water infiltration & increased yields through #ControlledTrafficFarming. 🌡️ Improved drainage and temperature control due to fall bedding. 🤝 Ongoing work in our partnerships with academic institutions, including Dalhousie University, University of Guelph and Cornell University. Our Farms of the Future project is a cornerstone in our #sustainability agenda and supports McCain’s global commitment to implement regenerative agricultural practices across 100% of its potato acreage worldwide by the end of 2030. Today on the first #InternationalDayofPotato, we’re taking a moment to recognize the humble spud, its importance to the global food system and our commitment to ensuring the resilience of our potato supply for generations to come. We are proud to join forces with BNP Paribas Bank Polska. 🤝➡️ This partnership furthers our commitment to supporting farmers, now in #Poland, through financial incentives that reward those who are leading the charge in sustainable farming, and reducing barriers for those who are just starting their journey. This partnership will support Polish potato farmers in their transition to #RegenerativeAgriculture with a range of actions: 🥔 Technical: Guiding and training farmers in areas such as #SoilHealth, #CoverCrop management, crop diversification and #biodiversity enhancement. 🥔 Commercial: A unique contract that offers a premium, per ton of potato that originate from fields practicing regenerative farming. 🥔 Financial: A range of financial support measures will be provided to farmers joining the program, including a discounted interest loan to assist them in transitioning to more sustainable practices. This program supports McCain’s global commitment to implement regenerative agricultural practices across 100% of its potato acreage worldwide by the end of 2030. McCain Foods Continental Europe recently wrapped their ‘Volunteer Month!’ 💛 A special shout-out to over 350 CE McCainers who participated in various volunteer activities in support of our environment and local communities. Check out some of the incredible activities that happened this month. ⬇️ ✍️ 140 personalized messages were written for elderly people for Les Blouses Roses. 🌳 400 trees were planted. 🌱 280 ‘seed balls’ (comprised of wildflowers, tomatoes, and basil) were scattered around our potato processing plants to promote #biodiversity. 🗑️ Over 285 kg of garbage and waste was collected in offices and plants across Poland, France, Belgium, and Holland. 🍽️ 400 meals were prepared and distributed for Les Restos du Coeur. 💛 Families at Carvin Foodbank and Stroboertje Merksem & Association in the Neighborhood Mortsel were served. 📚 Books and clothes were collected for the Emmaüs Association and Boubliane Association in Matougues. 💪 Through the Move and Give Challenge, participants recorded their sustainable transportation practices (running, walking or biking) and McCain committed to donating a non-perishable food item per KM travelled. Close to 19,000 KM were tracked and food items were donated. Thank you to everyone who participated in supporting our thriving communities! #WeAreMcCain #McCainThrivingCommunities #McCainChipsIn

🌱➡️ Our Farms of the Future are key to how we are supporting the transition to #RegenerativeAgriculture — here, we trial and test practices so that we can scale them across geographies & showcase best practices in sustainable farming to our grower partners. 🌷 Things have been busy on the farm this spring! Farmers have been preparing for planting by selecting and purchasing potato seeds and maintaining #SoilHealth. #CoverCrops planted in the fall and winter reduce the need for extensive soil disturbance. We also deploy #ControlTrafficFarming – a system of permanent wheel tracks across fields that reduce soil compaction and damage from machines. 🥔💛 Stay tuned as we continue to highlight a year in the life of a regenerative farm! I was thrilled to welcome President Emmanuel Macron at our McCain Foods production site in #Matougues, #France today. In his presence, we announced plans for a €350 million investment towards bolstering our production capabilities and strengthening our commitment to the French and European market. This significant investment will be distributed across our three production sites in #Harnes, #Béthune, and #Matougues, demonstrating our long-term vision for growth and sustainability in France. This will drive a 25% increase in production capacity, ensuring we can continue to meet the evolving needs of our customers and consumers. It was an honour for me to show President Macron our production site and explain how our plan will include state-of-the-art upgrades to our facilities—with a strong focus on #Sustainability and #OperationalExcellence. At McCain, we're not just investing in infrastructure; we're investing in the future of food production. From reducing CO2 emissions to optimizing water usage, we're committed to minimizing our environmental footprint while maximizing efficiency. From our 800 partner farmers to our dedicated team members and loyal customers, every stakeholder in the McCain family stands to benefit from this initiative.
