We are proud to join forces with BNP Paribas Bank Polska. 🤝➡️ This partnership furthers our commitment to supporting farmers, now in #Poland, through financial incentives that reward those who are leading the charge in sustainable farming, and reducing barriers for those who are just starting their journey. This partnership will support Polish potato farmers in their transition to #RegenerativeAgriculture with a range of actions: 🥔 Technical: Guiding and training farmers in areas such as #SoilHealth, #CoverCrop management, crop diversification and #biodiversity enhancement. 🥔 Commercial: A unique contract that offers a premium, per ton of potato that originate from fields practicing regenerative farming. 🥔 Financial: A range of financial support measures will be provided to farmers joining the program, including a discounted interest loan to assist them in transitioning to more sustainable practices. This program supports McCain’s global commitment to implement regenerative agricultural practices across 100% of its potato acreage worldwide by the end of 2030. McCain Foods Continental Europe recently wrapped their ‘Volunteer Month!’ 💛 A special shout-out to over 350 CE McCainers who participated in various volunteer activities in support of our environment and local communities. Check out some of the incredible activities that happened this month. ⬇️ ✍️ 140 personalized messages were written for elderly people for Les Blouses Roses. 🌳 400 trees were planted. 🌱 280 ‘seed balls’ (comprised of wildflowers, tomatoes, and basil) were scattered around our potato processing plants to promote #biodiversity.   🗑️ Over 285 kg of garbage and waste was collected in offices and plants across Poland, France, Belgium, and Holland. 🍽️ 400 meals were prepared and distributed for Les Restos du Coeur. 💛 Families at Carvin Foodbank and Stroboertje Merksem & Association in the Neighborhood Mortsel were served. 📚 Books and clothes were collected for the Emmaüs Association and Boubliane Association in Matougues. 💪 Through the Move and Give Challenge, participants recorded their sustainable transportation practices (running, walking or biking) and McCain committed to donating a non-perishable food item per KM travelled. It’s a time to recognize and celebrate the history and contributions of Asian Canadians, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders in our communities. 💛 One of the ways we celebrate the rich diversity of our workforce is through our various Employee Resource Groups. 🌱➡️ Our Farms of the Future are key to how we are supporting the transition to #RegenerativeAgriculture — here, we trial and test practices so that we can scale them across geographies & showcase best practices in sustainable farming to our grower partners. 🌷 Things have been busy on the farm this spring! Farmers have been preparing for planting by selecting and purchasing potato seeds and maintaining #SoilHealth. #CoverCrops planted in the fall and winter reduce the need for extensive soil disturbance. We also deploy #ControlTrafficFarming – a system of permanent wheel tracks across fields that reduce soil compaction and damage from machines. 🥔💛 Stay tuned as we continue to highlight a year in the life of a regenerative farm! Over 120 of our #manufacturing and #business leaders recently gathered for our Annual Plant Manager Conference in Ghent, Belgium. I was astounded by the remarkable strides we’ve made on crucial metrics such as safety, quality, overall equipment effectiveness and engagement. This week we celebrated the official grand opening of GoodLeaf Farms' new #Calgary location. 🌱 This state-of-the-art facility is Canada’s largest indoor vertical farm, not only creating over 100 jobs in the region but also producing an impressive two million pounds of leafy greens annually for consumers in the Prairies and western provinces. At McCain Foods, we're thrilled to play a part in supporting GoodLeaf in establishing a national network of sustainable vertical farms.
