Meet
Brian S. Cohen, M.D.
Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Cohen is originally from East Rockaway, N.Y., on Long Island. He attended medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic residency at Mount Sinai Hospital. After finishing his residency, Dr. Cohen completed fellowship training in sports medicine at Rush Medical Center in Chicago. He is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and belongs to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Cohen was one of the first two orthopedic surgeons employed by a large hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was a part of widening the scope of orthopedics and growing the team to over 30 providers at the time.
Dr. Cohen is passionate about helping advance the orthopedic industry. He is a consultant for Arthrex. He is a medical director for ParaGen Technologies and Atreon Orthopedics, on the board of directors for Synergy Med and on the advisory boards of Ospitek, Plethy and Magvation. His focus is to consult on new products that will improve patient safety, enhance the patient experience and maximize the highest-quality patient outcomes.
Dr. Brian Cohen is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of illnesses and injuries affecting the hip, knee and shoulder. With specialized training in advanced techniques and technology, he offers patients a wide range of customized solutions to care for even the most complex conditions.
Dr. Cohen’s goal is to relieve pain and restore function and mobility so patients can enjoy the lifestyle and activities they love.
Orthopedic Surgery Education and Professional Career
Dr. Cohen was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to a close-knit family. He earned his medical degree and trained at Mount Sinai. After residency, Dr. Cohen completed fellowship training in sports medicine at Rush Medical Center in Chicago.
He helped found the Center for Advanced Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine (now known as The Adena Bone and Joint Center) at Adena Health System in Chillicothe, Ohio, and served as the center’s medical director until 2020. In 2021, Dr. Cohen took a new position with OhioHealth at the system’s Columbus campus.
Respected for his meticulous and methodical surgical approach, Dr. Cohen is well-respected by orthopedic surgeons in the region, state and beyond. He has personally mentored over 100 surgeons from the U.S. and other countries, teaching them techniques to bring back to their home practices.
An avid learner and innovator, Dr. Cohen also serves as an advisor and consultant to several technological companies, including ParaGen Technologies, Ospitek and Arthrex.
Personal Interests
Beyond the operating room, Dr. Cohen remains close with his family, including his parents, who reside in Florida, and his two brothers. He is also an avid exerciser who often wakes as early as 3 a.m. to squeeze in a workout.
