To schedule a ride, please call our dispatch center between the hours of:
Monday – Friday: 5:30 am – 6:00 pm and Saturday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm

Hiawathaland Transit is sponsored by Three Rivers and is available to everyone for any reason. People of all ages ride our buses to go places like school, work, the grocery store, doctor’s office, pharmacy, or library. Contact our dispatch specialists for more information about our services.

Within the communities we serve, Hiawathaland Transit offers two services, Routes, and Dial-A-Ride. The communities of Faribault, Northfield and Red Wing have established Routes and also offer Dial-A-Ride service. Riders may get on the route(s) at their discretion; pre-scheduled route deviations may be available for an additional cost. Transfers to another Route are available at no cost but are limited to ONE immediate transfer only. In other communities, Dial-A-Ride service is available. Please note, in the communities where both services (Route and Dial-A-Ride) are offered, there are restrictions that apply to the Dial-A-Ride service. We operate on a first come, first served basis. We recommend making reservations 24 hours in advance whenever possible. We can take requests for rides up to six days in advance.

Schedules are subject to change. Traffic and weather conditions may delay buses.

Fares, Passes & Tokens

Dial-A-Ride Fare or Token: $2.50
Route Fare or Token: $2.00 (Route deviation fee is $0.50 in addition to the route fare)
Faribault-Northfield Connect Fare or Token: $5.00
Monthly Passes: Please contact a dispatch specialist for cost and availability based on your transportation needs.

Prices above are per one-way-ride, or per token purchased. Exact fare only, drivers DO NOT make change. Hiawathaland Transit DOES NOT replace lost or stolen passes. Deviation fees are not included in the purchase of monthly passes and additional payment of $0.50 is required for all deviations. Children 2 and under ride free with a paying adult. Maximum 1 free child per paying adult.

**Walmart in Red Wing no longer sells bus tokens. You can purchase tokens at Community Development, Public Works and Runnings**

Transfers to another route available at no cost. For immediate transfers only. For a complete list of where tokens are available, please reference the brochure for your community.

Passenger Conduct & Responsibility

  • Passengers are required to pay the necessary fare before their ride(s). Passengers will be charged the applicable fare for any scheduled rides and/or deviations that result in no-call, no-shows.
  • Hiawathaland Transit provides curb to curb service only; drivers do not help individuals into homes, apartment building or businesses.
  • Passengers may board with items/bags that can be carried on and off the bus in a SINGLE TRIP and must remain under their full control at all times while on board. Drivers DO NOT assist with packages.
  • Inappropriate language, bothering other passengers, horseplay, fighting, carrying of weapons, or possession of illegal drugs will not be tolerated.
  • No eating, drinking, or open containers; no smoking on buses, including E-cigarettes.

Additional Information

  • Each bus is handicap accessible.
  • 24-hour advance notice is encouraged for any ride needing the use of the lift.
  • Assistants accompanying a person with a disability MAY be eligible to ride free of charge. Contact a dispatch specialist for more information.
  • Tokens are encouraged, Drivers DO NOT make change.
  • Up to a 4-block (standard city block, or a maximum of .2 miles) route deviation may be available upon request through our dispatch specialist and will be subject to a $0.50 deviation charge.
  • Buses DO NOT enter trailer/mobile home parks, apartment complexes, multi-use/multi-family dwellings.
