We give thanks to the Chippewas of Saugeen, and the Chippewas of Nawash, now known as the Saugeen Ojibway Nation. We acknowledge them as the traditional keepers of this land and thank them for caring for this place as the stewarts of this territory which many of us call home.

This land acknowledgment was provided in part by the Saugeen Ojibway Nation Environment Office. For more information regarding matters that affect the rights and interests of Saugeen Ojibway Nation, please visit. www.saugeenojibwaynation.ca

MESSAGE FROM ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, Clayton Windatt

The Fabulous Festival of Fringe Film is focusing on building relationships with friends, peers and artists forming new partnerships across rural space. This work builds on the 2022 concept of “continuity - survival” going into formalized partnerships with spaces and people as we continue to explore the mutual benefits between peoples, places and communities.

How can the arts thrive? Our flow of actions streams through the festival and facilitates support becoming how people come together. We need more community building and support networks, now than ever before as optimism and hope continue to be hard to find. We take time to ensure our neighbors, family, friends and colleagues are safe, fed and responsive. We collectively respond and make an effort to aid each other in moving towards new ways of acting, being and living. This is how partnerships can form into meaningful relationships.

The 2023 festival follows the path set in 2022 building new partnerships moving towards further expanding and celebrating our region and the arts overall. Partnerships include the Durham Art Gallery, Durham and Area Food Bank, Hanover Drive Inn and many artists and groups. We look forward to seeing you in summer 2023.
