Portable Air Monitoring Station Now Operating in Thorhild

Fort Air Partnership (FAP) has moved its Keith Purves Portable Air Monitoring Station to the community of Thorhild. It began reporting data in early April. Thorhild was chosen because it is currently the largest community in the Airshed where no continuous air monitoring (portable or otherwise) has been located. Fort Air Partnership Releases 2024 First Quarter Monitoring Results 

From January through March 2024, Fort Air Partnership (FAP) recorded 13,461 hours of air monitoring data for use in calculating the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) at seven stations in our Airshed. There were no recorded hours of very high-risk AQHI. Only 12 hours were of high risk due to wintertime inversions and local burning. Check here to read more about this report.

 

2023 Annual Air Quality Monitoring Results Affected by Wildfire Smoke 

Wildfire smoke was by far the most frequent contributor to high-risk and very high-risk Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) ratings measured at Fort Air Partnership’s (FAP) monitoring stations in 2023. Read more about FAP’s 2023 annual air quality monitoring results here.

 

2023 Alberta Wildfire’s Seasonal Statistics

The Province of Alberta endured a very impactful wildfire season in 2023. The massive number of hectares burned in Alberta affected air quality in the Fort Air Partnership for several months. Read about the wildfire statistics.
