Special Board Meeting May 22

COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION SPECIAL BOARD MEETING The Madison-Plains Board of Education will hold a special meeting in the high school gymnasium on May 22, 2024, at 7:00 pm to discuss and engage our community in conversation about facility options for the district. We are working to provide on-site child care during this meeting.

Denny Morris Baseball Facility

In front of many former players, family, and friends on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, an official naming ceremony was held to name the Madison-Plains baseball facility in honor of the late Denny Morris. Denny Morris grew up in Mount Sterling, Ohio, and was a 1965 graduate of The Plains High School. Denny very much enjoyed the game of baseball, and was always involved with it, whether he was playing, coaching, or simply as a fan.

Open Enrollment Applications Available

Open enrollment applications have been mailed. They are due to the Central Office no later then June 30, 2024.

April MPHS Rotary Student of the Month

Congratulations to Anna, and her parents, on being selected as the Rotary Club's Student of the Month for MPHS for the month of April 2024! Well done, Anna! Keep up the great work! Go Eagles!

April School Safety Drills

Dear Madison-Plains Local School District Parents and Guardians,

The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority within the Madison-Plains Local School District. To that end, this afternoon, Thursday, April 18, 2024, we conducted safety drills on our campus with our students and staff. The purpose for conducting these drills was to review, practice, and enhance our emergency preparedness procedures. Law enforcement and other county officials were invited to campus to observe and provide feedback to us, as well.

Again, today’s exercise was only a drill.

These drills are required by law, and we will continue to practice our emergency preparedness for various scenarios throughout the year.

7-12 Bldg Resuming Normal Operation

Dear Madison-Plains Local School District Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

As you may recall from last week, we had a leak in a pipe at the high school, and to fix the leak we had to depressurize the water system to make the repair, which required us to go on a boil alert on the 7-12 side of campus.

I am pleased to report to you that the leak in the pipe is fixed, and we have our water test results back, and the results are good – the water passed.

As a result, the 7-12 side of campus is able to come off the boil alert, and we will resume normal operation tomorrow, Tuesday, April 09, 2024.

Vaccination Reminder

REMINDER: If you have a child starting Kindergarten, 7th, or 12th grade this year, they are required by the State of Ohio to have up-to-date vaccinations on file with the school. If you have not done this yet, please do so by September 15th, or your child will be excluded from school and athletics. Please contact your physicians office, or you may contact Madison County Public Health at 740-852-3065, to get your child's required immunizations. Gifted Achievement

Top 100

MPLSD students who are gifted achieved among the highest achievement scores in the state in the spring of 2019, ranking in the top 100 districts and earning a 117.6 performance index score out of 120 possible points. They also had the highest achievement in Madison County.

Value-Added

Top 25%

MPLSD ranked in the top 25% of all school districts in the state of Ohio based on the amount of progress the District has demonstrated with our students. Value-Added measures the level of growth, or progress, students make over multiple years.
