Is it time to paint my house?

Here is what you need to know!

When was the last time your house was painted?

On average, houses in the United States are painted every seven years. However, this can vary depending on the climate you live in. Most homes in Idaho get a lot of sun exposure, so the paint can deteriorate more quickly.

Has your house lost its color?

When the paint starts to fade, it means that the protective layer has worn thin. Think of it like an old car that still has its original color, but the clear coating on top has started to wear off, making the car look unattractive and inconsistent. Once this happens, the color of your house will eventually start to peel or fade rapidly. It also becomes more vulnerable to other things like rust or rot, depending on the material of the surface.

Is the paint peeling?

When the paint starts peeling, it means that it’s no longer protecting the surface underneath. This can lead to wood rot or rust, depending on what the surface is made of. Aside from looking unpleasant, the surface will begin to deteriorate quickly.

What time of year should I get my house painted?

As long as it isn’t wet out you are good!

In most situations, the weather is not a factor. However, the ideal situation is sunny and between 65-90 degrees. There also needs to be dry conditions in order to paint exteriors.

Do colors affect price?

No. However, having multiple colors does.

We get asked this question a lot when providing estimates. The simple answer is “no,” unless you want your house to have polka dots or stripes. There may be an extra cost if you want more colors than what is normally included because of the equipment needing cleaning between colors.
