We Grow Food

We Grow Food has partnered with the Durham District School Board and other local community groups to create the Edible Garden Project. We have gardens sprouting all over the Durham Region and more on the way.

We believe in the importance of growing our own food and connecting community members to each other through sharing natural, fresh produce in an urban setting. Students throughout the Durham Region are coming together to learn about growing food, seed saving, food supply, and so much more.

Sponsorship and Fundraising

During our many years operating gardens throughout Oshawa we haven’t been working alone. Many different local businesses and organizations have contributed to our cause through a variety of mediums, helping to keep us in operation.

Check out our sponsorship and fundraising page to get a better idea of who’s helping out and how you can contribute as well!

“I can’t get enough!”

Volunteering with We Grow Food Oshawa is a beautiful experience. Close to the earth, tending to nature’s bounty, working alongside other dedicated souls in community and joy – life doesn’t get any better. Carol and Michelle are wonderful stewards and lovely beings. I have volunteered in other ways in the past, but this is the first time it’s felt truly right. I can’t get enough! #volunteeringisbliss

“…We deeply appreciate your contribution!”

Fresh, healthy food is key to maintaining good health and a strong immune system, and with a lack of enough fresh produce available, those who are vulnerable have become even more so. Your weekly donations of fresh, organic produce is making a significant difference to those most vulnerable and in need in our community, and we deeply appreciate your contribution!

“Our family loves the welcoming atmosphere…

We have attended many family focused events at Alexandra’s Bounty hosted by We Grow Foods. Our family loves the welcoming atmosphere and the learning we gain about our community, eating healthy and urban gardening (so much in fact that we have a little backyard garden now too!).

‎‎‎‎We Grow Food’s aim is to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment, respectful dialogue in the gardens for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities by identifying spaces where sexual and gender diversity is supported and valued.
