We are proud of our decades-long relationship with the NH Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), providing clinical care for many of our state's most vulnerable residents at New Hampshire Hospital. And we're proud to share the next chapter in this partnership: today, Gov. Chris Sununu and the Executive Council approved a contract for Dartmouth Health to provide psychiatric and medical care to patients at Hampstead Hospital, the only source of pediatric psychiatric inpatient and psychiatric residential treatment facility level of care in New Hampshire. “Dartmouth Health psychiatry and the state are deeply entwined having grown over the years from psychiatric care and medical direction at New Hampshire Hospital to offering talented clinical leadership to many state services, including at the Glencliff Home and the New Hampshire Forensic Hospital, currently under construction,” said William Torrey, MD, Dartmouth Health’s chair of psychiatry. “As the state’s only academic health system, Dartmouth Health can utilize our expertise to deliver high-quality care, train the workforce, and break new ground in medical science and best practices.” https://lnkd.in/eCe3DyeG

Hospitals and health systems are the backbone of our entire health care system. In one year, they will provide emergency care for more than 130 million people — our parents, spouses, children, and friends. We are honored to be featured in this video from the American Hospital Association as part of this year's National Hospital Week. Click through to watch and learn about one patient, Diana, who found compassionate help for substance use disorder at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics while she was pregnant. https://lnkd.in/eKDrMWxc #WeAreHealthCare #NationalHospitalWeek

On May 7, Gov. Chris Sununu signed a proclamation establishing May 5-11 each year as Maternal Mental Health Week in New Hampshire, where maternal mental health conditions are the primary contributing factor in maternal deaths. Heather Martin, RMA, a medical assistant and maternal mental health coordinator with Dartmouth Health Children’s, was instrumental in the proclamation being made. After losing her sister to suicide brought on by postpartum psychosis, Martin has dedicated her life to improving maternal mental health outcomes in her home state of New Hampshire and across America. Read the full story here to learn about the key initiatives being tackled, including the screening and response process for new mothers: https://lnkd.in/eG6wAJ7h

Following a national search, David M. Naeger, MD, FACR, FAAR, has been named the next Chair of the Department of Radiology at Dartmouth Health and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Naeger comes to Dartmouth Health from Denver Health, Denver’s primary safety net healthcare system and premier Level I trauma center. “Though I’m very sad to leave my Denver Health family, I’m drawn to the energy, expertise and enthusiasm of the entire Dartmouth Health radiology team,” said Naeger. “The radiologists, trainees, technologists, nurses, administrators, and support staff are all patient-focused, incredibly skilled, and engaged; I’m honored to be joining the team!” Read more: https://lnkd.in/erT8seqq

We were proud to sponsor the commissioning of a beautiful new art installation at New Hampshire Hospital, in collaboration with the New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts (NHBCA). 🎨🖌️ The mural, painted by Derry artist Karen Munday-Lincoln, is entitled “The Art of Healing” and is located in the staff breakroom. For nearly four decades, Dartmouth Health has provided clinical leadership, psychiatric, general medical and psychological services at the state-run psychiatric hospital. We're honored to support our staff at NHH with this mural and all the individuals working there to care for many of our state's most vulnerable residents. https://bit.ly/3wniG67

Every day, we are privileged to touch the lives of patients and their families who choose to seek healthcare through the Dartmouth Health system. We're all part of the care experience, and know that even the briefest interactions have the potential to be important and memorable. Our theme this year is “Bring Comfort, Give Kindness”. 💚 As part of our Care Experience Week activities, we asked our team to give video shout-outs to colleagues making a difference and positively impacting those around them. Such kind words are coming in from all corners of our health system, take a look at the videos collected: https://blens.io/sRkooG We'll continue to add to this through the end of Care Experience Week.
