On May 7, Gov. Chris Sununu signed a proclamation establishing May 5-11 each year as Maternal Mental Health Week in New Hampshire, where maternal mental health conditions are the primary contributing factor in maternal deaths. Heather Martin, RMA, a medical assistant and maternal mental health coordinator with Dartmouth Health Children’s, was instrumental in the proclamation being made. After losing her sister to suicide brought on by postpartum psychosis, Martin has dedicated her life to improving maternal mental health outcomes in her home state of New Hampshire and across America. Following a national search, David M. Naeger, MD, FACR, FAAR, has been named the next Chair of the Department of Radiology at Dartmouth Health and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Naeger comes to Dartmouth Health from Denver Health, Denver’s primary safety net healthcare system and premier Level I trauma center. “Though I’m very sad to leave my Denver Health family, I’m drawn to the energy, expertise and enthusiasm of the entire Dartmouth Health radiology team,” said Naeger. “The radiologists, trainees, technologists, nurses, administrators, and support staff are all patient-focused, incredibly skilled, and engaged; I’m honored to be joining the team!” Read more: https://lnkd.in/erT8seqq

We were proud to sponsor the commissioning of a beautiful new art installation at New Hampshire Hospital, in collaboration with the New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts (NHBCA). 🎨🖌️ The mural, painted by Derry artist Karen Munday-Lincoln, is entitled “The Art of Healing” and is located in the staff breakroom. For nearly four decades, Dartmouth Health has provided clinical leadership, psychiatric, general medical and psychological services at the state-run psychiatric hospital. We're honored to support our staff at NHH with this mural and all the individuals working there to care for many of our state's most vulnerable residents. https://bit.ly/3wniG67

Every day, we are privileged to touch the lives of patients and their families who choose to seek healthcare through the Dartmouth Health system. We're all part of the care experience, and know that even the briefest interactions have the potential to be important and memorable. Our theme this year is “Bring Comfort, Give Kindness”. 💚 As part of our Care Experience Week activities, we asked our team to give video shout-outs to colleagues making a difference and positively impacting those around them. Such kind words are coming in from all corners of our health system, take a look at the videos collected: https://blens.io/sRkooG We'll continue to add to this through the end of Care Experience Week. When hospitals and health systems, especially in rural areas, make economic investments that benefit the community at large, it is a net-positive for population health. Some of our investments benefiting both our system and the surrounding community include seed money for a bus route in the Upper Valley, and supporting the New Hampshire Community Loan Fund in its work to helping modular homeowners to cooperatively purchase the land their homes sit on. “Health systems have the ability to use their high visibility to signal communities about what's important,” Dartmouth Health Senior Director of Community Health Greg Norman told Rural Health Information Hub. “Even a modest gift from us as a health system allows that organization to look to other partners and say, ‘Hey, Dartmouth Health has stepped up’ — and there is value in that that is much greater than the dollars we provide.”
