We know that a good book has the power to transform lives, especially a child's. That's why we're proud to support the United Way of Treasure Valley's children's book drive each year. From donating gently loved children's books to spending employee-donated funds on new books, our employees love getting books in the hands of kids in our communities. President and CEO Lisa Grow and our book drive campaign leaders recently stopped by Rediscovered Books in Downtown Boise to purchase new books from the UWTV's wish list. Thank you to everyone who donated to this worthy cause!
Last week I joined a few of my colleagues to purchase books for the United Way of Treasure Valley's annual children's book drive. Idaho Power has a long history of supporting this incredible effort, which has resulted in over 540,000 new and gently used books getting in the hands of children from low-income families. Supporting youth literacy and educational opportunities is so important to me. My own childhood was enriched so much by reading — and I love seeing all the new books encouraging kids to follow their passions and imaginations. Getting lost in a book is one of life’s great joys, and I know these books will spread that joy across our community again this year.
