Safe Sanctuaries Policy

Introduction

The General Conference of The United Methodist Church, in April1996, adopted a resolution aimed at reducing the risk of child sexual abuse in the church. The following is a reflection on the adopted resolution. (Book of Resolutions, 2016 #3084) A central tenet of the Christian faith is the inherent value and worth of all children, youth, and adults. Children, youth, and other vulnerable people are least able to protect themselves in our society and are particularly vulnerable to abuse and neglect. The United Methodist Church is eager to do all it can to protect the youth, children, and other vulnerable people who participate in the life of this congregation. Click here to continue reading.

IUMC's logo!

Our logo, designed by parishioner Jessica Cornell - a graphic design major who lent her skills here!

Her major inspiration was our famous stained glass window, which depicts an image of Jesus holding a lost sheep as He brings it back into the fold.  It is the perfect representation of both how God tenderly cares for us and how we are called to care for others!  Thanks for your hard work, Jessica - we hope that this new logo will inspire generations to come!
