Vanessa Perez will be the first in her family to go to college. She recently graduated from the Hispanic Mother-Daughter program at Arizona State University, with support from her mom, Yolanda Cobos. "Being part of the first generation is very exciting, but this program helps because there's nobody that I can really talk to (about college)," Vanessa says. "These people here are willing to spend time with us and answer our questions. It's another way of helping us succeed." Vanessa plans to study community health with a goal of becoming a nurse. Learn more about this program, which partners with American Family Insurance to provide programming and scholarships to HMDP graduates who attend ASU. https://eoss.asu.edu/hmdp | #ClosingEquityGaps

Kakoli Roy, principal IT program manager, considers herself to be a new leader in the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. “There have been challenges I have learned to grow through, such as understanding diverse perspectives, navigating cultural nuances and balancing complex dynamics,” Kakoli says. We celebrate and honor these communities during AAPI Month. The theme – “Advancing Leaders Through Innovation” – pays homage to those who have shaped AAPI history and the trailblazers and visionaries continuing to shape a brighter future for all. “Using innovative approaches for advocacy allows us to address social and cultural challenges to ultimately amplify AAPI voices, create opportunities for advancement and promote inclusivity," she says. Learn more about Kakoli’s story and her leadership journey and passion for her community. #AAPIMonth

It might be finishing high school, getting a driver’s license or receiving paid training for a new job. Operation Fresh Start is there, helping young people like Keyonte and Victoria figure out what's next in life. "It changed my life," Keyonte says. "I feel like the sky's the limit now." Proceeds from AmFam Championship, our PGA TOUR Champions event, support this and other important work in our communities. #AmFamChamp is June 7-9, and broadcast live on Golf Channel. https://lnkd.in/gUgtcUwt

Dejanique Morris is a first-generation college student and mother of three. She's graduating with an Economics degree from The Ohio State University, thanks in large part to her personal strength and drive to dream. Along the way, Dejanique received support through the ACCESS Collaborative Program. She and other parenting students get help with childcare, housing, family engagement activities, mentoring, course scheduling, and emergency financial assistance. Talent and Inclusion Vice President Crystal Files attended the ACCESS graduation with her mom. It was homecoming for Crystal, who was part of this program when she attended OSU. "There are no stronger roots than the roots of a single mom," she said. "I want you to know that you should walk out of this space feeling confident that there is NOTHING in life that you can't accomplish." Through the American Family Insurance Institute for Corporate and Social Impact, we support this and other programs that close equity gaps in early childhood education and care, which is essential for businesses and communities to thrive. https://lnkd.in/gFaYdwSg
