Wasserstoff, Octan, Propan oder Methan – Welches Gas ist Hauptbestandteil von Erdgas? Welchen pH-Wert hat eine 1 molare Salzsäure-Lösung? Aus welcher Verbindung besteht die Außenhülle der Kieselalge? Diesen und vielen weiteren Fragen stellten sich die 45 Schülerinnen und Schüler der 9. bis 11. Klasse bei der 34. Landeschemieolympiade bei #BASFschwarzheide. Vom 11. bis 12. April stellten sie ihr Wissen und Können in einer mehrstündigen Klausur im werkseigenen Kulturhaus sowie in einer praktischen Prüfung im Schülerlabor des Max-Steenbeck-Gymnasiums in Cottbus unter Beweis. Mit Unterstützung des Fraunhofer-Institut f. Angewandte Polymerforschung (IAP) wurde der zweite Wettbewerbstag zu einem besonderen Highlight. Die Schülerinnen und Schüler hatten die Möglichkeit, den Forschern im Verarbeitungstechnikum für Biopolymere über die Schultern zu schauen. Die Jugendlichen erhielten Einblicke in die spannende Welt der Biokunststoffe, der Kunststoffverarbeitung und der Kreislaufwirtschaft. Für viele war es das erste Mal, dass sie erlebten, wie Kunststoffprodukte des täglichen Gebrauchs hergestellt und entwickelt werden. #MINT #MINTmacher Chemie - die stimmt!

Macht süß schlau? Wie können Nutzpflanzen resilienter werden? Oder wie lassen sich Geräte-Akkus sinnvoll und sicher nachnutzen? Die Jugend forscht, beweist Ideenreichtum und arbeitet an Lösungen für morgen. Rund 60 Schülerinnen und Schüler präsentierten vom 9. bis 10. April beim Landeswettbewerb #Jugendforscht Brandenburg bei #BASFschwarzheide ihre Projekte einer 25-köpfigen Fachjury. Insgesamt qualifizierten sich 7 Nachwuchsforscherinnen und -forscher mit ihren sechs Projekten für den Bundesausscheid. Allen Erstplatzierten drücken wir die Daumen für das Finale bei der experimenta – Das Science Center in Heilbronn vom 30. Mai bis 2. Juni. #BASF engagiert sich bereits seit 1966 für Deutschlands größten naturwissenschaftlichen Nachwuchswettbewerb. Der BASF-Standort Schwarzheide richtete zum 31. Mal in Folge den Wettbewerb auf Landesebene aus. #MINT #MINTmacher
