About us
In 1931, a group of seventy-five farmers in Wabash County, Indiana joined together to form their own financial cooperative. This group of leaders' simple vision was to provide savings and dependable loan programs, particularly to farmers, in the area. In keeping with this heritage, Beacon Credit Union has remained a leader in serving the agricultural community. Currently, Beacon CU is proud to be the largest agricultural lending credit union in the nation. In rural Indiana, where agricultural heritage is still a significant part of the cultural patchwork -- from 4-H fairs in the summer to harvest moons in the fall - our communities are about far more than just farming, and so is Beacon Credit Union. Today, Beacon has over $1.5 billion in assets, has grown to include 27 office locations, and serves over 47,000 members located throughout 50 counties in Indiana. Beacon's commitment to a business philosophy centered on service and added value has created a credit union whose name is synonymous with financial strength and stability. The rain and cold weather did not keep Purdue University Ag Week from bringing students, faculty, and sponsors from joining together to pack 65,015 meals at Hammer Down Hunger! Natalie Weaver and Brad Berlet volunteered to pack meals and spend some time with students from Purdue. Ag week is a weeklong event that promotes agriculture to all students at Purdue and takes place on Memorial Mall. Student ran agriculture clubs and organizations set up booths each day to educate students from all majors about the agriculture industry. Ag Week Task Force also puts on events such as Milk Monday, Tech Tuesday, Burger Bash, Hammer Down Hunger, and Farm to Fork Friday. Beacon is proud to sponsor Purdue Ag Week and the events that are held during the week to promote agriculture on Purdue’s campus. Boiler up and Hammer Down Hunger!
