As part of our Earth Day celebrations earlier this week, our Northbrook office partnered with the Forest Preserves of Cook County to perform an Ecological Restoration project. Our volunteers removed invasive plants like buckthorn and honeysuckle and dense overgrowth in the forest preserves. This process lets light return to the forest floor, allowing grasses, sedges, and wildflowers to return to their natural environment. Thank you to all who participated, and check out our photos from the event! #LifeAtCFIndustries #CFBetterTogether #EarthDay

Construction is underway at the site of the carbon dioxide dehydration and compression unit at our Donaldsonville Complex, a critical step forward for our landmark decarbonization project. Once operational, the unit will enable up to 2 million tons of carbon dioxide each year to be transported and permanently sequestered deep underground by our partner ExxonMobil rather than be emitted to the atmosphere. Start-up for the project is scheduled for 2025.

We are pleased to share that we have entered into a joint development agreement with JERA Co., Inc., Japan’s largest energy company, to explore the development of greenfield low-carbon ammonia production capacity at our Bluepoint Complex in Louisiana. This agreement expands our relationship with JERA as we work together to develop a low-carbon ammonia value chain and demonstrate the significant contribution low-carbon ammonia can make to meet the decarbonization goals of hard-to-abate industries. JERA is contemplating a 48% ownership stake in the project as well as an agreement to procure more than 500,000 metric tons of low-carbon ammonia annually to meet demand for low-carbon fuels in Japan. JERA intends to replace coal with low-carbon clean ammonia in its existing thermal coal power plants to reduce CO2 emissions. Learn more about our agreement: https://bit.ly/4aZiJ6N.
