About us
For 50 years, Child Development Associates (CDA) has been creating opportunities for Southern California families to thrive. We’re a community-based, non-profit agency with over 270 employees dedicated to creating positive change in our local community. We offer affordable and reliable child care services to eligible families and nutrition reimbursement to licensed family child care homes. Alternative Payment Program: CDA’s Alternative Payment Program provides child care reimbursement for children in San Diego County to the provider of the parent’s choice. This program allows eligible parents to choose the type of care they feel best meets the needs of their family. As a result, parents are able to work, look for work, or go to school. This program currently serves 13,864 children, over 7,664 families, and collaborates with over 3,320 different child care providers. Nutrition Program: CDA is the largest sponsor of the Federal USDA Child Care Food Program in the State of California. This program reimburses child care providers for the nutritious meals they serve to the children in their care. In the last year, CDA trained and reimbursed over 1,200 family child care providers who served over 6 million meals to children annually, enabling them to grow up healthy and develop nutritious eating habits for life. Supplemental Rate Payment Program: In October 2023, CDA was contracted by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to issue the one-time Transitional Subsidy Payments and Cost of Care Plus Rate Payments to over 5,000 eligible Stage One and Bridge Program child care providers in 24 California counties whose County of Human Services Department are unable provide those payments. We are happy to share that as of December 31, 2023, Care Access Real Estate (CARE) has acquired eight properties in Clark County, NV, and our VERY FIRST HOME IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY! 🏡 This large property, located near Berry Street Park in the Lemon Grove community, offers an open floor plan, ample natural light from multiple skylights, an oversized driveway, hardwood floors, and a generously sized grassy backyard with heritage fruit trees. 🌳 We recently had the chance to visit the space with colleagues from our CARE San Diego partner Child Development Associates. Once renovated, the home will accommodate both a dedicated child care space and an income-generating accessory dwelling unit (ADU). We can't wait to share what it looks like once renovations are complete!
