Don't overlook the Medical Expenses Tax Credit! While it's true you need to meet a certain threshold to benefit, smart management can make all the difference. Here's how to make it work for you: - Keep all receipts for eligible medical expenses - Combine all claims for yourself, your spouse, and dependents on one return—usually the one with the lower income. - Roll expenses into next year's return if you don’t have enough yet—you can claim costs for any 12-month period ending in the tax year Tip: Timing major expenses like dental work or new glasses just right can push you over the threshold and maximize your savings! Are you passionate about learning excellence and enhancing accounting and business education? If YES, consider submitting your nomination to join the CPA Education Foundation Board, which represents the charitable arm of the CPA profession in Alberta. Nominations for the CPA Education Foundation Board are now being accepted for up to three board positions for a three-year term beginning in September 2024. Although all nominations are encouraged, the Foundation has identified some characteristics and areas of competency that would strengthen and balance the composition of the CPA Education Foundation Board: • Fundraising/donor relations expertise; • Strong existing networks within post-secondary institutions; • Board governance experience; and • Representation from Edmonton and Northern Alberta. Nominations must be received no later than May 3, 2024.
