“My DG journey is pretty lengthy. I started as a sales associate and worked my way up to a regional director. Nothing has been more amazing than being able to participate in the growth of our internal bench. I've met, trained and worked alongside some pretty amazing individuals over the years.” Brandi P. joined Dollar General in 2001 and, with the help of our award-winning training programs, has grown her career through five different roles during her 22+ years with us. Brandi is one of many employees who have used programs like Store Manager Ladder, District Manager Training, Advanced Leadership Program and others to develop skills and take their careers to the next level. Jaylen Smith was just 18 years old when he was elected Mayor of the small community of Earle, Arkansas. With a population of 2,000, it had been years since the town had a grocer. Even before his election, Smith set his sights on revitalizing Earle and providing more food access. That’s when he reached out to Dollar General to request a DG Market. Thanks to Mayor Smith, Earle’s new DG Market is now serving residents, helping provide nearby access to fresh meat and produce. “It’s going to be more jobs, and it will address the food insecurity problems that we have,” Mayor Smith said. "We used to have to drive several miles to get fresh produce, and now it's just simpler. If my grandkids are coming over and we need bananas, I don't have to go eight miles to a large grocery store. I can go one mile to Dollar General and there they are." Morris T., longtime Hitchcock, TX, resident.    After Hitchcock’s only grocery store closed ten years ago, the town’s 7,000 residents were left without access to fresh food and produce, traveling miles for groceries.     We were happy to work with the mayor to serve the community, expanding our store to add produce in the heart of town. Learn more about our efforts to bring fresh foods to a community in need: https://lnkd.in/gdRiqpqf

It’s evident that our mission of Serving Others is ingrained within our culture; our employees are always willing to lend a hand in times of need.
