We have some very exciting news to share! Our Ecumen Meadows Clinical Director, Marissa Marten, is the 2024 recipient of the Omega Omnicron Nursing Society's Emerging Nurse Leader Award! This annual award is given to a nurse who provides inspiration and demonstrates commitment to those they serve. Ecumen's Director of Clinical Information and Analytics, Nicole Proviano, recognized those qualities in Marissa and nominated her for the award. Congratulations, Marissa! You are very deserving of this honor, and we are proud of you!

Innovate. We find new ways to exceed people's expectations. At Ecumen Oaks & Pines, they believe in celebrating the remarkable talents and passions of their residents! When a last-minute cancellation threatened to disrupt their Brewing Knowledge series, one of their incredible residents and her daughter stepped in to save the day! Meet Tootie, who used to lend her expertise at her sister's floral shop. With her daughter by her side, they crafted an exquisite flower arrangement demonstration, showcasing their skills with fresh-cut blooms. The atmosphere was filled with creativity and joy as residents and team members marveled at the beauty unfolding before them. But the generosity didn't stop there! In the spirit of community, the stunning bouquets were raffled off to lucky attendees, spreading smiles and warmth throughout our halls.

We had the absolute privilege and honor to celebrate Fern's 107th birthday this month at Ecumen Seasons At Maplewood! A special thank you to our Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood team, Ecumen Hospice, Lunds & Byerlys, Trader Joe's, Kowalski's Markets, Specialty Floral, Johnson & Sons Florist and Cub Foods for helping honor Fern with over 107 flowers and plants for her special day! Knowing Fern had spent most of her life tending to plants and flowers in the fields and greenhouses of Holm and Olson Nursery, it only seemed right to honor her with a sampling of the plants and flowers she loves so much! 💚🌱🌼🌷

Why Ecumen Hospice? We see our patients as people! We see them as the person they are today, but also who they were 20 years ago. What makes them tick. What puts a smile on their face. We ask the questions and then we deliver. Our Ecumen Hospice North Branch team did just that recently with a patient and her daughter-in-law . M was an avid baker and a home economics teacher who perfected a family favorite - chocolate chip cookies! Her daughter-in-law has always tried to replicate the recipe but never got it "just right". Today we attempted again, close but not M's perfection. We still had a blast and M was absolutely thrilled to be part of baking again. 🍪

Today is National Siblings Day! Our Ecumen Litchfield community sure feels like a family, and that might be because we have many team members and residents that are related! When family members refer each other to work together, it not only speaks to the positive experiences they've had but also reflects their trust and confidence in Ecumen. It's a testament to the supportive culture and meaningful relationships fostered within Ecumen. Celebrating National Siblings Day within such a close-knit community is truly special! Meet Mary who works on our Clinical team and Billy who works on our Dietary team. Mary says, "The best part about working with Billy is being able to work closely with him to make a difference in our assisted living community. We are able to give each other a hard time without taking it personally!” Billy would agree, "We get to work together to improve and enhance the quality of life of our community from different perspectives.”

Last week we had two Minnesota Representatives in attendance at our St. Peter Adult Day Services location. The best part was that one of our ADS participants is one of these representatives! Representative Jeff Brand and retired Representative Carl Johnson (gentleman in the middle) were able to connect and reminisce about the days that Carl would go door knocking. Retired Representative Carl Johnson thanked Representative Brand for all he has done and continues to do. We are so grateful when our state representatives visit with those we serve, and extra grateful for this heartwarming connection and sweet friendship that was created! 💚
