As we celebrate #EarthDay today, Tara Neff with The Nature Foundation of Will County shares her experience and the importance of planting native plants in your own backyard to boost the presence of birds, bees and butterflies. The Nature Foundation of Will County is a non-profit that brings people and nature together, educating them on plants, conservation and the environment. The organization is also one that the #ENBFuelingFutures grant supports, as Enbridge is committed to fostering sustainable communities. Learn more: https://ow.ly/x0Qn50Rkg2H

On #EarthDay, we celebrate global achievements in environmental protection around the world and acknowledge the need to protect our planet’s delicate ecosystems for future generations. Enbridge is helping lead the energy transition towards a lower-carbon future through our 20+ year history of investments in renewable energy projects. We’ve come a long way, with much more to come. Our investments include: 💨23 wind farms ☀️15 solar projects 🔆 A combined renewable net generation capacity of 2,354 MW 🏡These projects can generate electricity to power up to 1.1M homes!

With tomorrow marking #EarthDay, we want to highlight a local not-for-profit organization that the #ENBFuelingFutures grant supports - The North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance Youth Water Council. They provide leadership in watershed management and planning, and the Youth Water Council consists of local youth who are passionate about environmental issues and having a voice in watershed discussions. Sustainability is integral to Enbridge and we love to see the future being energized by today’s youth! https://lnkd.in/gq-H_J6X

“My mom inspired me to volunteer in my community. I learned from a young age the positive impact volunteering can have, not only on who you are helping, but yourself too” says Megan Robinson, Senior Advisor, Community Engagement at Enbridge. She spends her free time volunteering at a number of organizations within her community of Dresden, Ontario. From the local Terry Fox Run, to the Rotary Club, to the food bank, the Dresden community is lucky to have Megan. The volunteerism and generosity of employees like Megan allow Enbridge to energize the communities in which we operate. #NVW2024

Enbridge is a proud sponsor of the 7th annual First Nations Major Projects Coalition conference taking place next week. The theme for this year’s event will explore how Indigenous partnerships are essential for all of Canada’s future in policy, critical minerals, finance and energy – very timely to the Government of Canada signaling to a federal Indigenous Loan Guarantee Program. Enbridge has been a strong advocate of Indigenous economic partnerships, as we believe there’s tremendous, untapped potential for Indigenous economic partnerships with industry in Canada. We look forward to participating in meaningful dialogue around shaping our shared economic future. https://fnmpc.ca/

At Enbridge, fueling the communities in which we operate in is integral to who we are. To celebrate #NVW2024 taking place in Canada and the U.S. over April 14-27, we’ll be sharing how some of our employees are giving back to their communities. When Phil LaFlamme isn’t project managing solar projects for Enbridge, he leads a youth football organization in Minnesota that teaches boys about integrity, stewardship and perseverance and how these virtues can be applied not just through sport, but in their homes, school and the community. #ENBFuelingFutures has supported the organization by funding new equipment and providing financial assistance to families in need.

We are pleased to see the Government of Canada include a robust loan guarantee program in their federal budget. Giving Indigenous groups the right to choose which projects and sectors of the economy to participate in will advance Canada’s energy future and Indigenous economic reconciliation. As a company that has worked with dozens of Indigenous communities to establish equity partnerships, we greatly appreciate the value this presents to many more communities across Canada. To date, Enbridge has existing or announced partnerships with 35 Indigenous communities in Canada with more to be announced in the next year. Indigenous investment in these partnerships, from the Athabasca Indigenous Investments’ transaction alone, totals more than $1.5 billion. More importantly, returns from these investments flow annually to our Indigenous partners, supporting funding priorities and helping to enhance quality of life in their communities. Enbridge successfully loaded the 500th Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) at the Enbridge Ingleside Energy Center (EIEC). A VLCC is as large as 3 football fields and can carry nearly 2 million barrels of oil. Loading 500 VLCCs without incident could not have been done without the 70+ people who work at the EIEC and local area partners. Given the renewed focus on energy security, the EIEC and this milestone is a lynchpin of our commitment to provide secure, sustainable and safe North American energy to the global markets that we export to.
