In partnership with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, we’re proud to award the 2024 ENMAX Amplifier Fund grant to NuLeaf Farms, a local family-owned business that designs, builds and supports sustainable indoor farming. As indoor and vertical farming starts to change the face of agriculture, NuLeaf plans to use their grant funding to bring more awareness to their unique business model, expand their research and development efforts, and as well as bring agricultural education into schools. “Through the Amplifier Fund, ENMAX is thrilled to invest in the growth and development of cutting-edge, small local businesses like NuLeaf that are helping to make a difference in our communities by applying advanced technology to one of our most basic needs.” – Brandie Yarish, MBA, CPHR, ENMAX’s Chief Human Resources Officer and Executive Vice President, Safety and IT Find out more about the ENMAX Amplifier Fund ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eN55MGc

🌎 Happy #EarthDay! At ENMAX, we are proud of our commitment to sustainable operations which prioritize our customers, communities and environment. Did you know our largest generation plant, Shepard Energy Centre, uses 100% reclaimed water from the City of Calgary’s Bonnybook Waste Treatment plant for all its power generating needs? Each year, this saves nearly six million cubic meters of freshwater being drawn directly from the Bow River. Learn more about our land stewardship practices and initiatives ⬇️

Giving back is a part of who we are at ENMAX, whether it’s sorting and donating used clothing or helping community facilities be more energy efficient. From hanging holiday lights at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and gathering baby items for the Calgary Food Bank to collecting donations for the Calgary Drop-In Centre, ENMAX team members dedicate hundreds of hours each year to help enrich our communities. This week – and all year round – thank you for all you do. ❤️ #NationalVolunteerWeek #yyc

Substation No. 1 has provided electricity to Calgarians for over 100 years and powers over 20,000 customers downtown. To ensure continued safe, reliable power, now and into the future, it needs to be replaced. We recently finished installing the substation building walls and some underground construction required for the new substation building, reopening all four lanes on 9 Avenue SW to traffic. As we deliver on our commitment to provide reliable power for Calgary, construction on this project will continue through 2024. Learn more ⬇️

We’re preparing for the future and working to build a more resilient grid through the development of a regional climate model under a three-year partnership with the University of Regina. The climate model will generate projections that will help ENMAX evaluate potential risks to energy production, transmission and distribution in Alberta and plan for solutions. “As our climate changes and extreme weather events become more severe and frequent, having the information to better build a resilient electricity system is essential. Climate change projections provided by the research project will be used to forecast electricity demand and the investment required to ensure safe, reliable and sustainable electricity in the future.” - Mark Poweska, ENMAX President and CEO Learn more 👇
