The Environmental Student Action Challenge is helping kids tackle environmental challenges in their own communities. 11 schools across Alberta will run 13 creative projects for young environmental champions who share a passion for our air, water, land and biodiversity. Hillhurst students are designing a rooftop garden that uses robotics and Artificial Intelligence to clean plastic waste from wetland ecosystems. Copperfield’s nature and sustainability club will bring solar energy to their new indoor gardening towers. Schools across Alberta are eligible to apply for funding through the challenge. Past projects have included building a garden of native plants to learn about local ecosystems, creating a bee habitat by planting native flowers and shrubs and having students grow their own produce.
