Next week, we're speaking at the International Oil Spill Conference in New Orleans to showcase our latest research in In-Situ Burning and reducing smoke emissions from large-scale hydrocarbon burns using ferrocene. This innovative solution aims to minimize the environmental impact and enhance efficiency by incorporating ferrocene into absorbent and porous materials. We're excited to present initial findings from our 2023 tests at our training facilty, funded by the Canadian Multi-Partner Research Initiative through Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Our research focuses on how this technology can be applied effectively to spills on land and inland waters. Beyond the presentation, we'll share an overview of our world-class facilities at Lakeland College's Emergency Training Centre, where we offer comprehensive training programs in emergency services, and how our unique offerings equip professionals to lead in various branches of emergency response. We are thrilled to contribute to this vital conference and to collaborate with global partners in advancing safe, effective oil spill responses. During the Changing Lives, Changing Communities Fundraising Event in Lloydminster on May 2, 2024, attendees learned about Inclusion Lloydminster and Inclusion Alberta’s work to support those with intellectual disabilities. Among those in attendance were Lakeland students Tylan Andrews and Koby Carlin. Lakeland works with Inclusion Alberta to assist students with intellectual disabilities to participate in classes and campus life. Students can set goals, audit courses and receive a certificate of achievement. Brendan Ganton, one of our Environmental Sciences instructors was nominated and honored for one of six Community Inclusion Awards by Tylan and his family. Brendan was committed to providing Tylan with the same quality experience that all the other students experience.
