  • May is mental health month. Maintaining good mental health is like exercising or brushing your teeth – it requires building a daily habit. Common practices to boost your mental health include eating a nutritious diet, getting good quality sleep, connecting with friends, physical exercise and limiting exposure to media, including social media. It’s okay to ask for support at any time. Visit our website, call or email us today. lsscounseling.org | 888.881.8261| counseling@lssmn.org #MentalHealthMonth

  • Every day in communities across Minnesota and North Dakota, LSS Senior Companion volunteers, age 55 and older, are sharing their time and talents — enhancing the lives of older adults to assist them in staying active, healthy, and remaining independent. By volunteering as a Senior Companion, you can make a positive difference by providing weekly visits that keep older adults feeling well — both physically and emotionally. • The oldest building on the grounds of Camp Knutson, a service of LSS, will soon be renovated. Thanks to a generous donation from Gary and Peg Janisch, Hilltop Cabin will be updated with a new split entry and new lower-level bedrooms and baths, laundry facilities and kitchen area. Hilltop was once the summer retreat of Congressman Harold Knutson, who gifted his property to be used as a camp for kids who otherwise wouldn't be able to go to camp. Today, Camp Knutson is a supportive, medically-sound camp for individuals with disabilities, medical conditions and other identified needs. Open year-round, Camp K also serves as the perfect setting for retreats, conferences, and other special events September through May.
