Join us in recognizing the most recent recipient of our Pharmacy Recognition of Phenomenal Service (PROPS) Award, Lakia Young, Inventory Pharmacy Technician at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. 🎉 A transplant patient was heading home on the metro with their recently picked-up medications and a bag full of necessary medical supplies when, all of a sudden, the bag was stolen. Not knowing where to start, the patient stopped by the outpatient pharmacy before heading to their doctor's office. Overhearing the situation, Lakia started to contact the patient's insurance to get an override so the pharmacy would be able to fill the medications again for the patient. Once Lakia received approval from the patient's insurance, she processed the prescriptions and filled them quickly. When the prescriptions were ready, Lakia ran to the patient's doctor's office, located on another floor, and presented the patient with their medications and a new bag full of medical supplies. Thank you, Lakia, for acting quickly and understanding the needs of our patient!
