Today, May 5, is the National Day of Awareness for Missing, Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit+ People, and Mayor Bowman has made a proclamation in recognition of its significance in the region. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo supports the justice-related Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit+ People, to honour and remember the people and families impacted by this ongoing national tragedy.

The Downtown Community Cleanup was a litter-al success! Volunteers collected 42 bags of garbage totaling 772 lbs from the area around Kiyām Park. 🚮 ✋ Thank you to the RMWB staff and volunteers from Acera Insurance Services Ltd., Athabasca Watershed Council, BrokerLink, Merit Hotel & Suites, Northreach Society, Some Other Solutions (and more!) that took time out of their day to help make the region clean, green and beautiful! 🌱 #RMWB #YMM #CommunityCleanup
