Earlier this week, leaders and team members at our Mission Hill celebrated #EarthDay and #ArborDay with a special ceremony blessing a newly planted tree and working with Forest ReLeaf of Missouri potting seedlings that will be distributed throughout the community for planting in the fall.

We are heartened by the many hospital and health system professionals who supported the Joint Commission’s launch of a voluntary certification program on sustainability. Dr. Jonathan Perlin, president and CEO of the Joint Commission, reports that interest in the new certification program is generating inquiries every day, including one framed as a New Year’s resolution. We agree with Dr. Perlin: health systems are realizing that environmental preservation is an essential aspect of caring for patients sustainably.
