For State Farm Agent Ronald Wang, all it took was seeing a "seeking CEO-minded individuals with unlimited earning potential" LinkedIn post. Intrigued, he decided to look more into the agent opportunity and hasn't looked back since.   "This past December, we celebrated our five-year anniversary, and becoming a State Farm agent has truly been a fulfilling, rewarding, and competitive experience for me. Not only do I have the opportunity to be part of and give back to the community I grew up in, but everything about this career seemed tailor-made for me, making it the best chapter in my professional career so far. My team inspires me to be the best leader I can be, and I enjoy watching them develop both personally and professionally."   Ronald's ability to balance business ownership and parenthood was another reason he has found the State Farm agent opportunity fulfilling and rewarding.    "In Asian culture, family holds top priority. When my son, RJ aka Xiao Bao (little treasure) was born, I found myself unable to spend time with him due to my prior career obligations. It was important for me to be a bigger part of his childhood, and that has come into fruition in so many ways today. I’m always a phone call away from the office or from home, and I carry this family-like philosophy into my business. I take pride in understanding and addressing the diverse needs of our community, striving to exceed expectations with empathy, professionalism and remarkable service." After travelling the world as a dancer in college, Katie Kelly knew she wanted to go into business for herself after graduation. That's when she became a commercial realtor. Realizing she wanted to build deeper connections with people, Katie decided to shift careers and become a State Farm independent contractor agent. "Real estate is very transactional, and with State Farm, I am able to grow with each customer and understand their story. For me, State Farm offered a way to have a presence in the community, help educate people, and grow and develop a team, all while having the income and independence to enjoy my family and life. The biggest lesson I've learned in this career is there's always room to learn and grow." Katie reflects on how her heritage, cultural experience and passion align with how she runs her business. "As a businesswoman with Vietnamese and Chinese Hawaiian heritage, my State Farm agent career is deeply rooted in my cultural heritage and personal values. My upbringing in ballet and hula has instilled in me a sense of structure and the importance of community, which I carry into my career. I cultivate a supportive and inclusive work environment for my team and State Farm customers. I also embody the spirit of 'Ohana,' which is central to many AANHPI cultures." Enterprise Business Services Manager Thay Sutimek credits his Asian American heritage for his ability to connect and collaborate with colleagues from different cultural backgrounds. "One innate trait that I would attribute to my Thai heritage is my perspective, 'everything is going to be alright.' This perspective has helped me listen more and gain a better understanding of my colleagues’ perspective so that I can be a better thought partner to solve the business challenges together. "I actively support diversity and inclusion in my workplace and community by sharing my experiences through individual interactions, team meetings, and church activities. It's vital to create spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. I get to do that here at State Farm." State Farm Agent Regina Talbot reflects on her 30-year career and how the decision to help people and the community has impacted her in the best of ways. From learning about herself as a business owner to balancing family life, Regina is thankful for every lesson and milestone. "Thirty years ago, if you asked me what I wanted to be, I would never have imagined becoming a State Farm agent. Back then, there weren’t very many Asian women agents, so I felt very fortunate State Farm gave me an opportunity. I am so grateful for everything I've experienced — I became more self-confident and knowledgeable about the business world and how to interact with all kinds of people. It makes me proud to know customers trust me to help in their time of need." As a University of the Philippines graduate, Regina also takes pride in her diverse background, perspective and being a role model for younger generations, showing that her career can be an option. "From the moment I stepped into this career, I understood the importance of representation and diversity. As a minority in the insurance world, I’ve faced challenges, but I’ve also seen the power of my identity in connecting with customers from all walks of life. To serve as a role model for other women and minorities in the industry has been a privilege and a responsibility I hold dearly. I appreciate State Farm for embracing diversity and for allowing me to make a difference, not only as a State Farm agent but as a proud Asian-American woman.” Learn more about becoming a State Farm independent contractor agent: https://lnkd.in/giWjAvk9 #AANHPIHM

This month, we're celebrating the 10-year anniversary of independent contractor agent Julie Sumiki's office in Castro Valley, California! Julie grew up on the Big Island of Hawaii as a first-generation Filipino American and second-generation Japanese woman. She recalls how higher education was an aspiration far beyond her family's experience, contributing to her drive. Julie's path toward pursuing her dreams enabled her to become the first of her family to graduate college and create new footprints towards an incredible entrepreneurial journey. “With the encouragement and support of a mentor, who’s also an inspiring female State Farm agent, I discovered my true passion. The idea of owning an insurance office and managing a team seemed distant, and although this was something I never imagined for myself, I immediately discovered the possibilities as a State Farm agent.” Julie finds fulfilment in building lasting relationships in her community and helping to provide families with protection and peace of mind. “I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to break barriers as a State Farm agent. As my parents instilled in me, anything is possible if you are willing to work hard and dream big. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity State Farm has given me, allowing me to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.” Wishing you continued success, Julie! Thank you for being a #GoodNeighbor in your community.

"The hardest part about transitioning to civilian life for me was finding purpose as a combat arms soldier in a civilian world." An analysis of his transferable skills and a little encouragement from his wife inspired Claim Team Manager Michael Peters to apply at State Farm. "My wife has been at State Farm over 5 years. She knew that my ability to remain calm, cool, and collected would prove beneficial when helping customers. As a Sergeant in the Army, I led teams and learned how to work with teammates with completely different backgrounds. "My pathway was anything but traditional. After the Army, I went back to college and graduated in 2021. I began my career at State Farm as a Claim Specialist in 2022 and recently accepted a role as a Claim Team Manager. "I would encourage all veterans transitioning to civilian life to find their mission and carry out the task necessary to mission success." Looking for a career with purpose? https://lnkd.in/gEkv3Ru9

"I recall my first entrepreneurial experience in the first grade. I participated in the gifted and talented young entrepreneurs' fair, selling homemade paper airplanes. I was inspired, and it was the moment I knew in my soul I wanted to run my own business one day." Tommy Vichaivattana tested a variety of business ideas, but it wasn't until he was a two-year State Farm independent contractor agent that he received confirmation he chose the right career for him. "December of 2020 during the pandemic, I became ill and was admitted to the hospital. As I lay there fighting for my life, I knew if I passed on my wife and three sons would lack for nothing because I chose to protect them with life insurance. It also made me wonder about those around me, what their plans were and if their families would be protected after they were gone. That moment catapulted me to continue to serve and educate others." Tommy credits his tenacity and work ethic to his mother and strives to extend those values to his business, team and life. "My mom arrived in the U.S. at 17 years old as a refugee from the Laotian civil war. Having only a fifth-grade education, she didn’t know the language, the culture, or the people, yet had the work ethic, perseverance and optimism of an entrepreneur. Being an immigrant requires an exceptional amount of bravery and resilience, qualities I rely on as I connect with customers, develop my team and grow my business."
