As National Volunteer Month comes to a close, we want to highlight our PRIDE Employee Resource Group Volunteer Event at Midwest Food Bank. Collectively, the group volunteered over 90 hours packing food to be distributed throughout the community, which also earned a Good Neighbor Grant of $1,000 for the food bank. This event was also an opportunity to present Midwest Food Bank with a donation of over $74,000! The money was raised through employee contributions and the State Farm matching gift program during April’s Peanut Butter Drive. The drive also brought in over 60,000 pounds of peanut butter, which is a sustainable source of protein for people experiencing food insecurity. It's through donations and volunteer efforts that Midwest Food Bank can provide aid to those in need, and we're proud to continue supporting their efforts. Overall, it was a great day to be a #GoodNeighbor! Interested in joining the neighborhood of good? Check out our current openings at https://lnkd.in/gZ5WskN

State Farm Agent Hunter Jones credits his upbringing for his passion to serve. At the age of five, Hunter’s parents divorced, causing financial hardships for him and his mother — they had moved ten times, in and out of various family and friends' homes by the time he finished high school. "My mom began working for a State Farm independent contractor agent and I remember throwing wooden airplanes in his office. Looking back, I am forever grateful to him for giving my mom an opportunity that helped our family in so many ways. “In college, I waited tables and needed quality experience for my resume, so I pursued State Farm. I started out as an intern for a local agent, then became an agent aspirant after I graduated. It changed my life and I learned so much from her. She taught me leadership at the highest level, I witnessed how she integrated faith into her business, balancing work and life, and most importantly, she showed me how to be an agent of service." Hunter strives to be the community's first choice for products and models the same service to customers, his team, and family. "This opportunity has given me a life beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I believe in helping agent aspirants like I once was, so I offer an agent aspirant program alongside two other stellar agents. As Kristyn Cook shared with me recently, “We are one team," and I truly believe that State Farm operates with this belief system — I am so fortunate to be a part of this company." Vulnerability Analyst Ashley Clifford finds solace in serving and learning new skills. "I first started volunteering during college. I wanted something that would teach me practical skills in a comfortable environment while also benefiting the community, and I discovered Women Build. "As a volunteer for the committee, our efforts are focused on fundraising and bringing awareness to the Women Build Habitat house, as well as providing support through meal deliveries and administration. I have volunteered with Habitat for close to 10 years now off and on. "I love that State Farm heavily supports volunteerism and I have seen firsthand the ways that communities have been impacted in a positive way by employee volunteer efforts. I think it is something that really distinguishes the company and aligns with who I am as a person." Explore a career with an organization that gives back to the community. https://lnkd.in/gZ5WskN

After wrapping up his collegiate baseball career and graduating, Brett Smalley accepted an outside sales position with an insurance company that required frequent travel. While he was ambitious about one day becoming a district manager, he knew the possibility was a distant dream. Brett's interest in a career as a State Farm independent contractor agent was sparked in two ways — by a friend whose father was a State Farm agent at the time and a coworker who left to become one. "My wife and I just built our house in my hometown of Hixson, TN and had been waiting over a year for the right location to present itself. When I heard there was an opening in our town due to a State Farm agent retiring, I put my focus in getting into the interview process and thankfully, was selected. Fast forward to last month, I celebrated opening a second office in Chattanooga on my 10-year anniversary of my first location!" Brett expresses his gratitude for the opportunities received during his time as an agent. “It has been a dream of mine to serve my hometown, and mentoring others to become State Farm agents has allowed me to extend my reach beyond my community. My primary goal in life is to be a good husband and father, and the State Farm agent opportunity has allowed me to do just that." State Farm Agent Jensen Collie credits his passion for entrepreneurship to his parents, who owned multiple businesses throughout his childhood. Later in life, Jensen made the move from Texas to Nashville to work for a Medicare supplement agent. There he discovered his love for service and fulfilling the need of customers. "After my wife and I married, we moved back to Texas where I first came across the agent opportunity and spent the next 19 months as an agent aspirant offered through a local State Farm agent. While I was waiting for the right location to become available to open my agent office, I went to visit a friend who had recently moved to Omaha. After spending just a short period of time there, my wife and I instantly fell in love with the area — this was the place we’d been looking for." Jensen shares the roots of his agent office culture and admiration for the State Farm independent contractor agent opportunity. "Coming from a town of only 3,500 people, we brought the small-town community feel that I grew up on with us. A good business starts with the right product, and if you believe in it, you won't have to sell anything — you get that with State Farm. I truly do not know of any other opportunity like this one, it's a hidden gem." Learn more about becoming a State Farm independent contractor agent: https://lnkd.in/giWjAvk9
