Meet Yang Zhang – a daughter, sister, an Asian female leader in the IT space and a diversity champion on our team. The month of May is Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month – a month to recognize, embrace and celebrate the rich history and culture of generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have contributed to shaping North America’s diversity and success. We sat down with Yang to learn more about her story and how her family and Asian heritage is the backbone of her life. “As an Asian woman leader in IT, I am a minority in more ways than one. This only makes me more aware to look around the room to ensure a diversity of thought is represented, respected and encouraged.” Learn more about Yang’s story here: https://lnkd.in/gzPWawKm

In Media Luna, Hidalgo, Marisela and her neighbors faced a shared reality. The absence of electricity turned daily activities such as doing schoolwork, charging a cellphone, or preparing breakfast early in the morning into logistical challenges that depended on improvised solutions like the energy from car batteries or using a small bottle with diesel and a wick. However, this reality changed completely more than a month ago. Through our partnership with iluméxico, we installed 27 solar panels - 23 intended for homes, 2 for community spaces, and 2 for community clinics - changing the lives of nearly 90 people living in Cieneguilla, Media Luna, and Coyocala. For the first time, nights are filled with the melody of radios; household chores are simplified with the use of washing machines; and charging cell phones has become an efficient and simple task. These changes, although they may seem small, have a profound impact on the quality of life, safety, and well-being of an entire community. ➡️Learn the full story here https://ow.ly/HjLu50RpbBq

Think Globally, Act Locally. This April, as we embrace the spirit of #EarthDay and Global Volunteer Month, we’re reminded of the power of #community and the impact of giving back. Through our social impact program, Build Strong, our people are contributing to global sustainability while leaving a lasting impact in the communities we call home across Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. Over the next two weeks, our teams will engage in a community clean-up challenge, volunteer their time and give back to environmental organizations they care passionately about. Together, we can work to create a more sustainable future and strengthen our company culture through teamwork, education, and collaboration.
