A wonderful event was recently held at our New York City office, partnering with All Stars Project, Inc., a national non-profit organization that The Hartford has supported since 2019.
Strengthening The Hartford's Talent Pipeline with the All Stars Project On April 24, The Hartford hosted an event in our NYC office in conjunction with the All Stars Project (ASP), a national non-profit organization that The Hartford has supported since 2019. ASP (https://allstars.org), founded in 1981 and active in NY, NJ, Chicago, Dallas, and San Francisco, uses the development power of performance to transform the lives of tens of thousands of inner-city youth and their families. ASP runs a remarkable program called the Development School for Youth (DSY) that connects young people ages 16-21 to the world of work. Through DSY’s rigorous program of training sessions and workshops, young people learn how to create a professional performance in partnership with corporate leaders from top companies such as JPMorgan Chase, EY, MetLife, Paramount Global, AON, and RBC Capital Markets. DSY graduates are placed in 6-week paid internships where they continue to develop their leadership and professional skills while connecting to the world of success. As part of The Hartford's efforts to strengthen and diversify our talent pipeline, I coordinated a workshop along with 15 colleagues in our NYC office. Over 35 students participating in the DSY’s Spring 2024 term attended our 90-minute workshop that included a panel discussion, presentations, and breakout sessions aimed at introducing the students to the world of insurance. The feedback was very positive and the DSY students left with an improved understanding of the benefits, rewards, and breadth of a career in commercial insurance. We hope that some may now be thinking of a career in insurance! I am proud of the amazing effort put forth by The Hartford's NYC regional office to strengthen our support of ASP/DSY, positively impact our local community, and boost our talent pipeline!
