Meet Taylor. She’s 4 foot 9, 17 years old, but pound-for-pound can outlift most adults – despite only having been powerlifting for a little over a year. Taylor is also a TriHealth patient dealing with a rare kidney condition called “Nutcracker Syndrome.” After being referred to Mayo Clinic after her TriHealth primary care physician Dr. Lee Niemeyer was able to make the diagnosis following months of testing, Taylor responded well to further treatment and was able to find a new passion in the gym - a byproduct of her condition forcing her out of horse riding and almost all other sports. Now, she’s growing her confidence and competing in powerlifting meets, having recently put up impressive numbers at the 2023 USPA Drug Tested Junior Regionals this past October. We’re so inspired by Taylor’s spirit and passion to heal – not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. Keep on lifting heavy things!
