DWS is fortunate to have a generous team, and for our latest example, we are proud to introduce you to Beau Busby, a Career Advisor based at the Jackson County #NCWorks Career Center. In 2019, Beau came across “The Great Cut,” an event hosted by The Longhairs, in which they set a Guinness World Record for the most hair donated at a single charity event. All hair donated goes to the charity “Children with Hair Loss,” which provides wigs to children free of charge.
Having once lost his own hair due to chemotherapy in 2002, Beau was moved by this cause. When he learned that the Longhairs would attempt to set the world record again in 2024, he knew he wanted to be a part of it.
After five years (yes, FIVE years!) of growing out his hair, Beau responded to a call to action from The Longhairs seeking someone who might be willing to donate their hair on live television. This broadcast would raise awareness for the “The Great Cut,” which would be taking place a couple weeks later. Beau was then contacted by his friend and one of the co-owners of The Longhairs, Chris Healy, who invited him to Washington, DC, to be featured on television in March: https://lnkd.in/e_jvzNvg
Here are Beau’s “before” and “after” photos, showcasing his incredible journey and his commitment to making a difference in the lives of children in need.
