Two Middle Schoolers Break Track and Field Records
Two Bellbrook Middle Schoolers broke track records this season, one of them longstanding, and one who broke her own record from last year. Jemia Wheaton broke the shot put record, besting a record set in 1976 and Raegan Arndt broke her own record in the pole vault.

Board Approves Contracts, Textbooks, Honors Retirees
The Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Board of Education got a lot done at its May 9 meeting at Bellbrook Middle School, including adopting two new textbooks, approving contracts with both unions and honoring several retirees. The board also heard a presentation on the Science of Reading from Stephen Bell Principal Ginger Keeton, teachers Paige Rose and Heather Hebrank and Literacy Coach Rebecca Campbell.

Bellbrook Middle School Bands Debut 2 New Songs
The Bellbrook Middle School 7th and 8th grade bands debuted two new songs on Monday night, thanks to a consortium agreement. Because of the agreement, Bellbrook bands have access to music that hasn’t yet been played in public and the middle school was part of a world premiere for the songs “Scream” and “Stay,” both of which deal with mental health. Both songs are part of the unBroken project.

NJHS Inducts 70 New Members to Bel-Leader Chapter
The National Junior Honor Society Induction ceremony took place at Bellbrook Middle School Tuesday night as 70 new members were inducted into the program. The Bel-Leader Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society was established to create an enthusiasm for superior scholarship; to develop citizenship; to stimulate a desire to serve; to promote leadership; and to instill exemplary qualities of character.

Board Approves New Admins, Teachers for Next School Year
Thursday night had a few presentations and a bevy of changes to the district, all of which the board approved, 4-0, with one board member absent.
Julie Wellbaums’s 5th graders, who will be singing “God Bless America” at the Dragons game on May 1, kicked off the meeting with the song following the call to order and pledge of allegiance.

Bellbrook High School was once again awarded for its high academic achievement by U.S. News and World Report, climbing 10 spots from last year's ranking, all the way to 43rd.

Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools are very proud of the designation each of our schools receive, naming them as Purple Star Award winners and Bell Creek Intermediate was just awarded the prestigious honor yet again.
