The Opportunity:



As a Stocklin Operator you would be working in our Distribution Department to ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiencies are achieved.

 

 

What you'll do:         

  • Know the production schedule for the shift and customer requirements.
  • On job start-up ensure product stream from press is of good quality. At the beginning of each shift, complete the disc operator daily checklist to ensure equipment readiness prior to production.
  • Ensure settings are entered in system for each job referring to posted chart (copy lap, page size, tape tension, quantity per disc) and recorded in log book for repeat product reference
  • Know when product is wound or sent to stacker.
  • Have back-ups set whenever possible, even when product is straight to stacker (contingency plan)
  • Product has a lap (if it does not, confirm if it is necessary and inform pressroom and/or person managing the shift immediately)
  • The guides and side joggers are adjusted correctly prior to the DTR.
  • Be aware of spadias and adjust polychords as necessary.
  • Separate portions of product per print order (ex: office copies
  • Report any issues with the equipment to maintenance personnel and to the person managing the shift.
  • Label every DTR with a print order, or, in the absence of print orders, use labeled tags for easy identification and a printed sample is affixed to the discs for easy identification.
  • Monitor winding of product throughout production to ensure consistent quality.
  • Organize wound discs in appropriate area for reintroduction in process when needed.
  • At end of run, verify final count equals print order (plus overs); clear press once confirmed.
  • Give all press overflow copies (refer to Press Overflow Copies’ table) to the insert technician I at the beginning of the related production run.
  • Inquire with person managing the shift before recycling left over product on discs
  • Work with Planning Coordinator and support shipping and receiving when time permits.
  • Support the insert technicians with set-ups and material handling of product.
  • Perform housekeeping functions such as removing skids and tops and any garbage. \
  • Assist in preparing for following productions.
  • Communicate with press room on quality, quantity, speeds, issues (jams, overflow)
  • Keep the Team Lead aware of all issues and possible changes, shortages, overs, quality issues.
  • Communicate with insert technicians during runs: bad discs, low on product, which MSD will finish production, etc.
  • Communicate when office copies/pile down portions are available to be sent down to stacker/overflow.\
  • Ensure daily maintenance is performed on all equipment (clean sensors, check all belts for wear or tear, clean any dirt on tracks and moving parts, clean discs)
  • Repair discs as required.
  • Verify wound inserts are assigned correctly.
  • Coordinate insert changes with little or no downtime. 
  • Support the DC Department by assisting other roles, as necessary. 
  • Communicate with colleagues to maintain peak performance and ensure the highest quality of product is achieved.\
  • Always maintain a safe working environment.
  • Other duties as required.
Who you are:

  • Demonstrated superior knowledge of computers systems (Microsoft Office) 
  • Working experience on computer controlled mechanical/production equipment. 
  • Quality conscious coupled with strong troubleshooting capabilities. 
  • Prior knowledge on Stocklin and related equipment an asset
  • Licensed on counterbalance and low-lift equipment (walkie) and/or Stocklin
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational and communications skills. Must be able to write and speak English
  • Must be a team player with sound understanding of process flow and knowledge of customer requirements
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline driven chaotic environment, with a focus on safety and time management
 


The successful candidate must be able to work shifts in a 24 hour / 7 day a week environment.
