This is a permanent full time position



Reporting to the Director of the Capital & Infrastructure Department, the Energy Coordinator will be
responsible for supporting TTC, VOT and Dèisleen Development Corporation (DDC) in the implementation of the existing Teslin Energy Plan (2018), and the Teslin Integrated Resource Plan (2021). The position works to address climate change from a holistic perspective and ensure alignment with TTC's values. The position will help Teslin to advance their efforts towards reducing their greenhouse gas emissions further by reducing the energy consumed and generating clean electricity locally from renewable sources, while supporting economic development and fostering community selfsufficiency and resilience.

Main Duties
• Support TTC, VOT and DDC in identifying energy needs and priorities for Teslin, focusing on
electricity, heat and transport by assisting the above and the stakeholders involved (e.g.
community, YG Energy Solutions Branch, Yukon Energy) in the development and/or update of
the existing baseline energy profiles and energy plans or generating project ideas that involve
community input and decision making. This encompasses collecting, compiling and evaluating of
existing and new information regarding energy issues;
• Play a lead role in supporting the development, ongoing review/adaptation and implementation of
the Teslin Energy Plan and Teslin Integrated Resources Plan through public engagement with the
community and collaboration with TTC staff and Chief and Council, VOT and other stakeholders
involved;
• Assist TTC, VOT and DDC with project planning by soliciting technical resources, evaluating
technical options, and understanding feasibility, environmental assessment studies and regulatory
options;
• Support TTC, VOT and DDC in finding and accessing funding resources by writing proposal
applications and providing general administrative support;
• Educate and create awareness of key energy issues and solutions through advocating for
energy efficiency and renewable energy programs that work for First Nation People.
This includes the development of education and promotional materials as well as events.


Education and Experience
• Post-secondary degree related to renewable energy, energy efficiency, climate change, policy,
environmental sciences, planning, Indigenous studies or similar and demonstrated experience
working with Indigenous communities, governments and organizations, as well as other local,
regional, and federal organizations.
• Two or more years of leading the development and management of community-based energy
projects, preferable in Northern Canada

Conditions of Employment
• Yukon Class 5 driver's license
• Willingness to take training
