Recruitment for Volunteer Board Members

Windsor Essex Community Health Centre (weCHC)

Windsor Essex Community Centre (weCHC) strives to provide optimal health and wellbeing for our community. We offer a variety of healthcare services to vulnerable populations in Windsor-Essex. Our mission is to deliver accessible, inclusive, collaborative health and wellness care. We accomplish this through a lens of equity, integrity, inclusion, accountability, respect and compassion. We are a not for profit who provides health promotion, illness prevention and primary care using an integrated model in collaboration with community partnerships.

We operate 5 physical locations throughout Windsor and Essex County.

In addition to these sites we offer numerous services at various locations throughout Windsor and Essex County. We are funded by Ontario Health who largely funds our programs and services allowing us to offer them to our clients at no charge.

Our Board is seeking a volunteer Director of the Board member who possess skills/expertise in the following areas:

Previous experience on a Board is an asset

Legal Skills / Experience

Strategic planning

Risk management

Diversity/Equity/Inclusion

Technology

Please note knowledge of the health care system is not necessary.

Bilingual (French/English) language skills is an asset.

Time Commitment

Directors on the Board make a commitment to serve a three year term, for a maximum of two terms. weCHC is a governance volunteer board with a monthly time commitment of approximately 2-4 hours a month.

There are no meetings in July & August, unless an emergent Board situation arises. The time commitment includes:

Attending bi-monthly board meetings (fourth Wednesday of every month from 5:30-8:30pm);

Participation in a minimum of one sub-committee who meet bimonthly for 1-2 hours; and

Contribution to task groups and/or other board related work as needed.
