INVITATION FOR BIDS Sealed bids for furnishing the project will be received at the Office of the Town Clerk, Town of Monterey, Massachusetts (435 Main Road P.O. Box 308, Monterey, MA 01245) until the time specified below at which time the proposals will be publicly opened and read at the Town Hall Meeting Room. ITEM Bid: Hupi Road Stormwater and Water Quality Improvements BID OPENING May 1 at 9:00 AM (This project is situated along a portion of Hupi Road near the transition from paved to gravel. The project shall include the construction of a sediment trap with level spreader that flows into a grassed water quality with stone check dams and riprap flow dispersion pad at the end. The sediment trap shall be fed by a series of pre-cast concrete deep sump catch basins located off the edge of roadway and within a constructed roadside ditch and connected by new High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) smooth lined pipe with a flared end section trenched into the existing ground. The gravel roadway located within project limits and to be affected by drainage work shall be regraded and topped with new crushed stone.) All specifications concerning the Scope of Work for this project are shown on the attached Drawings as prepared by Comprehensive Environmental, Inc., (CEI) and as specified or referenced herein. Bid documents are available electronically via email from Nick Cristofori of Comprehensive Environmental Inc. at ncristofori@ceiengineers.com. Bids will be opened in the Town Hall Meeting Room on May 1, 2024 at 9:00 AM local time. Each Bid must be accompanied by a bid security consisting of a BID BOND, or, CERTIFIED CHECK issued by a responsible bank or trust company in the amount of 5% of the bid price. A Performance Bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the total amount of the bid, with a surety company qualified to do business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, will be required for the faithful performance of the Contract, as well as a Labor and Materials Payment Bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the total amount of the bid. The Contractor is responsible for paying for these bonds. Cost of all bonds must be included in your bid price. This Contract is being Bid on under the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30, Section 39M , as amended and subject to all applicable bidding laws thereto. Attention is directed to the minimum wage rates to be paid as determined by the Commissioner of Labor and Industries and the weekly payroll record submittal requirements under the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Section 26 through 27D inclusive. Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining any additional wage rates required for their bid. Bidders must be Pre-Qualified with Mass DOT Highway Division. Selection of the contractor will be based upon bidder qualifications, including evidence of past performance in similar projects, and bid price. The contract will be awarded to the bidder deemed by the awarding authority to be the lowest responsible and eligible bidder.
